Role summary

First Resonance is seeking a Senior Product Engineer, a hybrid role blending software engineering and product management, to bridge the gap between software development, hardware manufacturing, and customer needs. This position is for a hands-on builder with deep engineering experience who will own the design, development, and delivery of digital ecosystems for modern factories. The role involves translating complex manufacturing workflows into product specifications, rapid prototyping, in-depth customer discovery, and defining API/integration strategies. The ideal candidate will have at least 3 years of production coding experience and 2 years in product lifecycle ownership, with a strong understanding of manufacturing or industrial IoT domains.

First Resonance is looking for a
Senior Product Engineer
to become the bridge between software development, hardware manufacturing, and customer needs. This is not a role for a Jira administrator or a generalist manager. It is a role for a "builder" with deep engineering roots who is ready to take full ownership of designing, building, and delivering the digital ecosystem that powers modern factories.
You will join a high-impact, small product team working directly with customers (building things like electric airplanes, robotics, and spacecraft) to turn messy, real-world manufacturing chaos into elegant, scalable software solutions.
Responsibilities & Duties
As a Senior Product Engineer, you will treat the product as your codebase. Your primary goal is to ensure technical feasibility meets user desirability from inception to deployment.

  • Own the Technical Blueprint: Translate complex, raw manufacturing workflows into deep product specifications, user stories, and architectural requirements that our core engineering team can execute against immediately.
  • Rapid Prototyping & Logic Validation: You won't just draw mockups; you will "code in draft." Use your engineering background and AI tools to build functional prototypes, validate logic flows, and perform initial testing on complex integrations.
  • "In-the-Weeds" Discovery: Spend significant time with customer engineers and factory floor operators. Use your systems thinking to diagnose root issues and design solutions that traditional generalist PMs would miss.
  • API & Integration Strategy: Lead the definition and strategy for our external integrations (ERP, PLM, QMS) and internal APIs, ensuring a scalable and performance-oriented ecosystem.
  • Mentor and Bridge: Serve as the translator between business stakeholders and technical teams, elevating the product fluency of the engineering team.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Mandatory Engineering Experience: At least 3+ years of professional experience writing production code (Full-stack, Backend, or Systems Engineering).
  • Manufacturing/Domain Expertise: Deep firsthand experience within manufacturing, hardware development, supply chain, or industrial IoT (e.g., you know the pain of inventory reconciliation or production planning).
  • Product Fluency: 2+ years of experience in product lifecycle ownership (as a PM, Tech Lead, or a founder).
  • Technical Stack Comfort: Mastery of web service architectures, API patterns (REST/GraphQL), and common data formats (JSON/XML).
  • Systems Thinker: Ability to understand a complex physical manufacturing process and immediately visualize the software system required to support it.

Benefits & Perks

  • Comprehensive Health Insurance (medical, vision, dental, life).
  • Employee Stock Option Plan.
  • Flexible PTO, Paid Holidays, and Paid Parental Leave.
  • Team events, happy hours, and an open, collaborative culture.
  • 401K.

Compensation Range: $150K - $200K
