
Public Health Data Analyst (Family Medicine & Rural Health - College of Medicine)
Role summary
This Public Health Data Analyst position within the College of Medicine's Family Medicine & Rural Health department is responsible for organizing, managing, and analyzing public health data for scientific research. Key duties include computerized data management, database merging and cleaning, creating database systems, ensuring data confidentiality, and performing statistical analyses and reporting. The role also involves supporting technical aspects of research through design, development, maintenance, and compliance, as well as executing complex research procedures and programming. A Bachelor's degree with two years of experience is required, with preferred qualifications including a degree in a related field and experience with data analysis tools, predictive modeling, and public health databases.

## Responsibilities
- Position is responsible for public health data organization, management, and analysis related to scientific research.
- Performs computerized data management, merging of databases, and cleaning of data.
- Attends research staff meetings and communicates with other members of research teams and departments.
- Coordinates with the College's Office of Information Technology to ensure technology best practices are implemented including, but not limited to coordination with the IT Security and Privacy team.
- Creates database systems to accommodate public health, family medicine, and rural health research data
- Assures confidentiality of data and migrates data into statistical and database software.
- Provides statistical analyses and reporting of data for faculty research projects.
- Responsible for supporting technical aspects of research through design, development, maintenance, and compliance of scientific or research facilities and projects.
- Performs complex scientific research procedures and experiments. Responsible for programming that is needed for RO1 by scheduling and coordinating research projects and providing assistance to users of the project.
## Qualifications
Bachelor's degree and two years of experience; or a high diploma/equivalent and experience equal to six years. (Note: post-high school education can substitute for experience at the equivalent rate.)
## Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Epidemiology, Public Health, Biostatistics, Behavioral Health, or a related field plus two (2) years of relevant post-graduate experience.
- Strong analytical skills and experience with data analysis tools, as well as excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Able to extract health/public health data and analyze it for accuracy, trends, and predictive modeling.
- Able to present findings or translate the data into an understandable document.
- Thorough knowledge of public health and clinical databases.
- Strong background in public health, epidemiology, or biostatistics.
