Role summary

Freddie Mac is seeking a Senior Network Security Engineer to join their Security Perimeter team. This role focuses on engineering and automating firewalls and Web Application Firewalls in on-premise and cloud environments, including AWS. Responsibilities include scripting for automation, implementing new applications securely, and performing secure perimeter activities across enterprise cloud and data center environments. The engineer will also handle a queue of business requests, improve audit evidence gathering, and participate in a bi-monthly on-call rotation. A Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience, 5+ years of IT experience with firewalls, and proficiency in scripting languages like Python are required. Experience with AWS security, Linux, networking, and troubleshooting is also essential.

Position Overview:
We are seeking a Network Security Engineering Senior to join the Security Perimeter team within the Enterprise Network Services of the Information Technology Division. The Senior Engineer will provide engineering and automation of Firewall/Web Application Firewall on-prem and in the cloud. Other opportunities include automation through scripting, companywide new application implementation and other secure perimeter activities for the Freddie Mac infrastructure and applications across multi-site enterprise cloud and data center environments. This role also includes a bi-monthly on-call rotation and will assist with troubleshooting firewall tickets.

Your Impact:

  • Collaborate with the business as they are our customers. We have many daily requests for the business which need to be responded to in a timely manner.
  • Improve our audit evidence gathering. We are heavily audited and need to streamline our evidence capturing processes.
  • Handle a que of request that come from the business (our customers).
  • Advise the business on current perimeter configurations and upcoming changes
  • Execute to completion any task given to you.
  • Resolve correctness of different firewall request in accordance with our controls.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in information technology, engineering, computer science, related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years of professional IT experience with implementation and administration of any firewalls and other secure perimeter
  • Proficiency in scripting/programming languages Python ,Perl, Yaml ,powershell
  • Experience of AWS security and CFT
  • Added advantage on Experience with infrastructure automation platform Ansible ,terraform
  • Added advantage on Knowledge of CI/CD pipeline
  • Linux skills
  • Experience with Networking and troubleshooting
  • Ability to prioritize work without management direction and provide clear, documented status updates to the management and the team.
  • Advanced problem-solving skills and ability to work effectively under tight deadlines.
  • Experience in supporting encryption and/or security appliance devices.

This position has an annualized market-based salary range of $122,000 - $184,000 and is eligible to participate in the annual incentive program. The final salary offered will generally fall within this range and is dependent on various factors including but not limited to the responsibilities of the position, experience, skill set, internal pay equity and other relevant qualifications of the applicant.
