Role summary

Freedom Technology Solutions Group is seeking a Journeyman System Administrator to support intelligence analysis products and capabilities. This role involves software development for enhancing client capabilities, modernizing applications, and ensuring operations and sustainment. The position focuses on increasing automation and operational efficiency using agile methodologies and modern tech stacks. Responsibilities include administering cloud and hybrid environments (AWS), maintaining DevSecOps pipelines (GitLab CI/CD), managing containerized applications (Docker/Kubernetes), enforcing security controls, and supporting application deployments. Key technologies include Linux, scripting (Bash, Python), Windows Server, virtualization, containerization, AWS, GitLab CI/CD, IaC (Terraform), and artifact repositories. A TS/SCI clearance is required, along with 3-8 years of software development experience and proficiency in Linux/Windows Server, DevSecOps, AWS, and containerization. Experience with geospatial tools and formats is desired.

Freedom Technology Solutions Group is seeking a System Adminstrator to support our client’s intelligence analysis products and capabilities. This position involves providing software development capabilities to enhance existing and emerging client capabilities, including design and development, modernization of existing applications and services, and operations and sustainment. The role focuses on driving the client’s adaptation of higher levels of automation and operational efficiency through agile development methodologies, rapid prototyping, and modern technology stacks.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform administration and sustainment of cloud and hybrid environments (AWS), ensuring system availability, security compliance, and operational stability.
  • Install, configure, and maintain cloud-based infrastructure, virtual machines, and container platforms in accordance with enterprise standards.
  • Monitor system health and performance using enterprise tools, and troubleshoot issues related to compute, storage, networking, and applications to ensure optimal system performance.
  • Support and maintain DevSecOps pipelines (GitLab CI/CD), including user access, job execution, pipeline health, and integration with deployed environments.
  • Deploy, manage, and support containerized applications (e.g., Docker/Kubernetes), ensuring proper configuration, scaling, and uptime.
  • Implement and enforce security controls, STIG compliance, patching, and system hardening across cloud environments.
  • Manage user access, roles, and permissions (IAM) to ensure secure and appropriate access to systems and data.
  • Support application deployment, configuration management, and environment provisioning in coordination with development and engineering teams.
  • Perform routine system maintenance, including updates, backups, log management, and capacity monitoring.
  • Assist with cloud migration and environment setup activities, including provisioning resources and validating configurations.
  • Maintain and update system documentation, including standard operating procedures (SOPs), configuration baselines, and troubleshooting guides.
  • Respond to and resolve incident tickets and service requests, ensuring timely resolution and communication with stakeholders.
  • Support geospatial and data services operations, including monitoring APIs and data pipelines for availability and performance.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure smooth integration and operation of applications within the cloud environment.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement efforts by identifying opportunities to enhance system reliability, automation, and operational efficiency.

  • Required Qualifications:

  • Active TS/SCI security clearance (eligible for CI Poly)
  • 3–8 years software development experience.
  • Proficiency in Linux/Windows Server
  • Experience with DevSecOps pipelines, Agile methodologies, and CI/CD tools (e.g., GitLab).
  • Hands-on experience with AWS services (Lambda, ECS, S3, RDS, etc.).
  • Skilled in containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes, OpenShift).
  • Developing customized code, scripts, modules, macro procedures, or libraries for specialized spatial analysis functions using languages such as Python, Java, JavaScript, PHP, C, C++, C#, Perl, or similar
  • Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience working independently with clients or stakeholders to develop user stories for full-service consumer and business applications
  • Experience with government and/or commercial imagery products, including SAR or related RADAR imaging technologies
  • Developing geospatial information systems (GIS) and working with open-source and proprietary geospatial formats
  • Using and developing common geospatial tools, data, and operating platforms such as:
  • Tools: Boundless Spatial suite, Remote View, PostGRES/PostGIS, Oracle Spatial, ArcGIS Desktop, ArcGIS Server, Image Server, File Geodatabases
  • Data Formats: KML, KMZ, NITF, TIFF, JPEG, GeoPDF, and similar geo-related formats and data structures
  • Abstracting new or legacy systems via standards-based APIs, including Open Geospatial Consortium standards
