Role summary

We are seeking an experienced Android Developer to design, develop, and maintain robust, scalable, and user-friendly Android applications using Kotlin and Flutter. The role involves implementing clean code, collaborating with cross-functional teams, participating in code reviews, optimizing performance, and writing tests. Key qualifications include strong Kotlin proficiency, understanding of Android SDK and architecture components, experience with APIs, JSON, backend integration, TDD, automated testing strategies, CI/CD (GitHub Actions), and mobile architecture patterns like MVVM/MVC. Experience with dependency injection frameworks and third-party libraries is also required. Nice-to-have skills include Flutter proficiency and Google Play Store release process experience. This is a full-time, remote position in the Pacific Time Zone.

Salary Range: 115k-140k
Core Hours: 9a-2:30p PT daily

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and passionate Android Developer to play a key role in the designing, and development of our Android applications. You will help develop and maintain robust, scalable, and user-friendly mobile solutions. You will work alongside other developers and collaborate cross-functionally to deliver best-in-class mobile experiences.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain Android applications using Kotlin and Flutter
  • Implement clean, maintainable, and testable code following best practices
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define, design, and ship new features
  • Participate in code reviews and contribute to improving engineering standards
  • Identify performance bottlenecks and optimize application performance
  • Write unit and UI tests to ensure code reliability
  • Debug and resolve production issues
  • Contribute to architectural decisions and technical documentation
  • Contribute to strategic decisions regarding mobile technology and project roadmap.

Qualifications

Must-Have:

  • 3+ years of experience professional Android development experience
  • Strong proficiency in Kotlin
  • Solid understanding of Android SDK and Android architecture components
  • Experience with RESTful APIs, JSON, and backend service integration.
  • TDD mindset. Strong understanding of software architecture principles and experience in making codebases more testable.
  • Proven experience in developing and implementing automated test strategies.
  • Solid knowledge of CI/CD - leveraging GitHub Actions.
  • Familiarity with MVVM, MVC, or similar architecture patterns.
  • Experience with dependency injection frameworks
  • Experience integrating third-party libraries, SDKs, and services (e.g., Firebase, AlamoFire).

Nice-to-Have:

  • Proficiency in Core Bluetooth framework for Android, including BLE device scanning, connection management, and data transfer.
  • Proficiency in Flutter

  • Experience maintaining legacy codebases (5+ years old)
