We are seeking a skilled Data Science and Engineering Specialist to support a federal client environment. In this role, you will design and maintain scalable data pipelines, develop analytical dashboards, and ensure the integrity of large-scale datasets across enterprise platforms. You will work at the intersection of data engineering and analytics, translating complex data into actionable insights for government stakeholders. This is a high-trust engagement requiring U.S. citizenship.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Data Pipeline & ETL Engineering
- Design, build, and maintain robust Extract-Transform-Load (ETL) pipelines using Informatica and related tooling.
- Manage data ingestion from multiple sources into centralized data warehouses, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and timeliness.
- Monitor and troubleshoot pipeline performance, implementing optimizations to support large-scale data volumes.
- Document data flows, transformation logic, and lineage to support auditability and compliance requirements.
- Data Warehouse & Large-Scale Data Management
- Work with very large-scale datasets across enterprise platforms including Snowflake (strongly preferred), Oracle, SQL Server, and MySQL.
- Design and optimize database schemas, queries, and stored procedures for performance at scale.
- Implement data quality checks, validation routines, and anomaly detection to maintain data integrity.
- Collaborate with data governance teams to enforce standards, access controls, and retention policies.
- Analytics & Reporting
- Develop and maintain interactive dashboards and reports using Tableau, Power BI, or comparable business intelligence tools.
- Partner with federal stakeholders to translate reporting requirements into clear, actionable visual deliverables.
- Perform exploratory and descriptive data analysis to surface trends, patterns, and insights relevant to program objectives.
- Support ad-hoc data requests and analytical deep dives as needed by mission stakeholders.
- Collaboration & Documentation
- Work closely with program managers, subject matter experts, and technical leads across federal and contractor teams.
- Produce clear technical documentation including data dictionaries, pipeline specs, and dashboard user guides.
- Participate in Agile ceremonies and contribute to sprint planning, backlog grooming, and retrospectives.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Demonstrated experience with ETL processes and data management using Informatica (strongly preferred).
- Hands-on experience working with very large-scale datasets in Snowflake (strongly preferred), Oracle, SQL Server, or MySQL.
- Proficiency in creating dashboards and reports using Tableau, Power BI, or similar BI tools.
- Strong data analysis skills with the ability to interpret complex datasets and communicate findings clearly.
- Experience working within federal or regulated environments with sensitivity to data security and compliance requirements.
- U.S. Citizenship required — this is a federal contract engagement.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience with Snowflake-native features such as Snowpark, data sharing, and performance tuning.
- Familiarity with cloud environments (AWS GovCloud, Azure Government) and associated data services.
- Knowledge of data governance frameworks and federal data standards (e.g., FISMA, FedRAMP).
- Experience with Python or SQL scripting for advanced data transformation and automation.
- Background in statistical analysis, predictive modeling, or machine learning in a data-rich environment.
