
Wireless Network Architect (SRE & Automation, RF & Wi-Fi)
Role summary
We are seeking an experienced Wireless Network Architect to design, optimize, and automate large-scale wireless networks. This role requires deep expertise in RF design, Wi-Fi technologies (802.11 standards), and Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) principles. Responsibilities include RF planning, Wi-Fi architecture, implementing security mechanisms (WPA, RADIUS), managing WLAN controllers (Mist preferred), and applying SRE practices with tools like Prometheus and Grafana. The role involves automating network operations using Python, Perl, and Bash, leading incident response, and providing technical leadership. A minimum of 15 years of networking experience, with a strong focus on wireless, is required.
We are seeking a highly experienced Wireless Network Architect with deep expertise in RF design, Wi-Fi technologies, and SRE (Site Reliability Engineering) practices. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, optimizing, and automating large-scale wireless networks, ensuring high availability, performance, and security.
Key Responsibilities
Design, implement, and optimize enterprise-grade wireless networks with a focus on scalability and reliability
Lead RF planning, site surveys, and troubleshooting using core principles such as EIRP, SNR, and interference analysis
Architect and manage Wi-Fi networks based on 802.11 standards, ensuring optimal coverage and performance
Implement and manage secure wireless authentication mechanisms (WPA, RADIUS, EAP, 802.1X)
Work with WLAN controllers, particularly Mist, for configuration, monitoring, and optimization
Apply SRE principles to wireless infrastructure, including observability, reliability, and automation
Develop and maintain monitoring solutions using Prometheus, Grafana, and Nautobot
Collaborate with security teams and integrate with network security platforms such as Cisco ISE
Automate network operations, deployments, and troubleshooting using Python, Perl, and Bash scripting
Lead incident response, root cause analysis (RCA), and performance tuning
Provide technical leadership and mentorship to engineering teams
Ensure adherence to best practices in network design, security, and operations
Required Skills & Qualifications
15+ years of overall experience in networking, with strong focus on wireless technologies
Expert-level knowledge of RF fundamentals (EIRP, SNR, RF propagation, interference mitigation)
Deep understanding of wireless protocols and security (WPA, RADIUS, EAP, 802.1X)
Hands-on experience with WLAN controllers, especially Mist (preferred)
Strong experience with monitoring and observability tools (Prometheus, Grafana, Nautobot)
Familiarity with network security solutions such as Cisco ISE
Proficiency in scripting and automation (Python, Perl, Bash)
Strong troubleshooting and analytical problem-solving skills
Experience applying SRE principles to network infrastructure
Ability to design and support large-scale, high-performance wireless environments
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in large enterprise or campus wireless deployments
Exposure to cloud-managed networking solutions
Certifications in wireless networking (CWNA, CWNP, Cisco Wireless, etc.)
Experience integrating network automation with CI/CD pipelines
