Role summary

Garmin is seeking a full-time Software Engineer 1 for their Boulder, CO office. This role involves building basic software for Garmin products and applications. Key responsibilities include maintaining and improving cloud infrastructure in AWS (EC2, EKS, networking, storage), developing CI/CD pipelines using GitLab/GitHub, managing Kubernetes workloads, creating automation tools with Python, Java, Bash, and Go, and participating in incident response. A Bachelor's degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience is required, along with demonstrated software development skills in languages like C, C++, Java, or others. Experience with production Kubernetes and AWS is desired.

Overview:

We are seeking a full-time Software Engineer 1 at our office in Boulder, CO. In this role, you will be responsible for building upon existing software solutions to develop basic software for Garmin products and/or applications.

Responsibilities:

Essential Functions

  • Maintain and improve existing cloud infrastructure in AWS, including EC2, EKS, networking, and storage components
  • Build upon existing CI/CD pipelines in GitLab and/or GitHub
  • Maintain Kubernetes workloads, including deployments, scaling, and resource utilization
  • Develop automation tools using Python, Java, Bash and Go
  • Maintain and improve existing software engineering tools
  • Particiapte in incident response, root cause analysis, and postmoretm processes

Qualifications:

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Math, Physics or related field OR an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Excellent academics (cumulative GPA greater than or equal to 3.0 as a general rule)
  • Demonstrated knowledge, education, experience and/or training necessary to develop basic software in C, C++, C#, Java, assembly language, or other selected languages

Desired Qualifications

  • Outstanding academics (cumulative GPA greater than or equal to 3.5)
  • Experience operation production workloads in Kubernetes
  • Experience with Public Cloud Providers (e.g. AWS)
