Role summary

General Atomics (GA) is seeking a Space Systems Test Engineer for its EMS-Space Mechanical Engineering team. This individual contributor role involves supporting critical testing activities throughout the satellite product lifecycle, including prototype validation, production and factory acceptance testing, component and system-level requirements verification, and system integration tests. The engineer will apply technical knowledge to resolve routine problems, perform functional testing, analyze test data, document findings, and communicate results to project staff. A Bachelor's or Master's degree in engineering and at least two years of relevant experience are required, along with a basic understanding of engineering concepts and principles. The role also requires the ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Security Clearance.

Join our Mechanical Engineering team in EMS-Space as a Space Systems Test Engineer. In this individual contributor role, you’ll be an integral part of our satellite test team, supporting critical testing activities across the full product lifecycle. Your work will span engineering prototype validation, production and factory acceptance testing, component and system-level requirements verification, and comprehensive system integration tests.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Applies basic technical knowledge to analyze, investigate and resolve assigned routine engineering problems.
  • Performs functional testing of equipment and systems by utilizing standard engineering and scientific principles. Obtains and analyzes test data.
  • Develops appropriate documentation of findings and implemented solutions, and communicates results to project engineering staff.
  • May be required to make technical presentations to project staff.
  • May provide direction to design staff or technicians.
  • Maintains the strict confidentiality of sensitive information.
  • Responsible for observing all laws, regulations and other applicable obligations wherever and whenever business is conducted on behalf of the Company.
  • Expected to work in a safe manner in accordance with established operating procedures and practices.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Job Qualifications

  • Typically requires a bachelors or masters degree in engineering or a related technical discipline from an accredited institution and two or more years of engineering experience with a bachelors degree. May substitute equivalent engineering experience in lieu of education.
  • Must have a basic understanding of engineering concepts, principles, and theory.
  • Demonstrates the ability to follow and apply basic engineering knowledge, adapt standard techniques, and utilize the required diagnostics, tools and equipment, while ensuring safety and regulatory compliance.
  • Must be able to understand new concepts quickly and apply them accurately throughout an evolving environment.
  • Good communication, computer, and interpersonal skills are required to enable an effective interface with other professionals, to produce appropriate documentation, and to present results to a limited internal audience.
  • Must be customer focused and able to work on a self-initiated basis or in a team environment and able to work extended hours and travel as required.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain DoD Security Clearance is required.

Job Type: Full-Time Salary
Salary range: 68,770 - 116,193
