Role summary

A Defense-Aerospace client is seeking a long-term contract Product Owner with SAFe experience for an embedded software engineering role in Ft. Wayne, IN. The position requires the ability to obtain a Secret security clearance. The Product Owner will collaborate with cross-functional teams to define and prioritize product requirements, manage the product backlog, and participate in SAFe ceremonies. Key responsibilities include translating technical concepts into actionable tasks, gathering stakeholder feedback, and ensuring the delivery of high-quality software. A Bachelor's degree in a relevant field and 5+ years of experience (or Master's with 3 years) are required, along with proficiency in C, C++, C#, and RTOS.

Hourly Rate: up to $54/hr W2, non-benefited

Length: Long-Term

Location: Ft. Wayne, IN

Clearance: Ability to obtain a Department of Defense Secret security clearance is required at time of hire

Description:

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define product requirements and priorities.
Create and manage the product backlog, ensuring it aligns with business objectives.
Participate in SAFe ceremonies, including PI Planning, to ensure smooth project execution.
Work closely with stakeholders to gather feedback and continuously improve the product.
Monitor progress and adjust priorities as needed to meet deadlines and deliver high-quality software.

Required Skills:

2-3 years of experience in a Product Owner role, preferably with embedded software.
Strong understanding of SAFe principles and practices.
Proficiency in C, C++ and C#.
Familiarity with real-time operating systems (RTOS).
Excellent communication skills to effectively collaborate with team members and stakeholders.
Ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear, actionable tasks.
Proven track record of delivering successful software products.

Desired Skills:

Experience with embedded systems and software development.
Strong understanding of software development process, as well as software engineering concepts, principles, and theories
SAFe certification or relevant training.
Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach.
Ability to adapt to changing priorities and work in a fast-paced environment.
Passion for technology and innovation.
Domain experience in RF and GPS and Navigation system development, implementation and integrations efforts.

Required Education and Experience:

Requires a Bachelor's degree in Software Engineering, or a related Science, Engineering or Mathematics field. Also requires 5+ years of job-related experience, or a Master's degree plus 3 years of job-related experience.
