Role summary
A federal defense contractor is seeking a Sr. FPGA Engineer for their Torpedo Systems Group. The role involves designing, delivering, and maintaining firmware/software products, acting as an onsite customer representative for installation and troubleshooting. Responsibilities include FPGA design, verification, documentation, architecture, simulation, and hardware troubleshooting. Requires a Bachelor's degree in EE/CE or related field with 8 years of experience (or Master's with 6 years), strong FPGA expertise, C programming, RTOS experience, Linux environment proficiency, and source control tools like Git.
Our client, a leading federal defense contractor, is seeking a Sr. FPGA Engineer for their Torpedo Systems Group. You will collaborate with engineering teams to design, deliver, and maintain firmware/software products, while serving as the onsite customer representative for installation, troubleshooting, and corrective actions.
Duties & Tasks:
- Contribute to design, verification & documentation for FPGA developments
- Participate in architecture, simulation & detailed design approaches
- Define module interfaces & device design/simulation aspects
- Evaluate process flow: design, synthesis, place/route, timing, power utilization
- Verify test results & analyze performance
- Present requirements, concepts, designs & results to stakeholders
- Support organizational process improvements & technical product generation
Required Skills:
- Bachelor's in EE/CE or related field + 8 yrs exp (or Master's + 6 yrs)
- Background check clearance (criminal, credit, education, employment, drug test)
- Strong FPGA engineering expertise & new theory/method development
- Source control tools (Git preferred)
- Hardware troubleshooting (DMM, Oscilloscopes, Power Supplies, Function Generators)
- Linux environment experience
- C programming & multithreaded development
- Real‑Time Operating Systems experience
- Excellent communication & problem‑solving skills
