Description
GlobalGiving is a nonprofit that connects donors with community-led organizations around the world. We have accumulated rich data across our donor marketplace and nonprofit partner network over many years — and we're looking for a senior, hands-on data leader to help us unlock its full potential. This is a high-impact individual contributor role reporting directly to senior leadership, with the opportunity to build a team over time.
We have a collaborative work atmosphere where everyone’s input and ideas are valued. We’re committed to work-life balance and offer everyone opportunities to learn, experiment, and grow. Since creative, enthusiastic employees are our most valued resource and the basis for our success, we take great care in how we attract, hire, and support our employees for a successful career. If you care about collaboration, curiosity, communication excellence, and continuous improvement, this position is right for you.
Primary Responsibilities
*Executive Partnership & Discovery*
- Conduct structured discovery interviews with executives and functional leaders to surface the key business questions our data currently can't answer
- Translate those questions into a prioritized roadmap of data model changes, instrumentation gaps, and analytics deliverables
- Serve as the primary translator between business strategy and data architecture — making complex tradeoffs legible to non-technical stakeholders
*Data Modeling & Architecture*
- Audit our existing data model across Salesforce CRM and our cloud data warehouse, identifying structural gaps, inconsistencies, and debt
- Design and implement a revised data model that reflects the realities of a multi-sided marketplace (donors and nonprofits), including transaction data, engagement signals, and partner performance metrics
- Own and evolve our dbt project: write, document, and test transformation logic that produces reliable, trusted data assets
*Data Engineering & Operations*
- Work with our engineers to manage and improve our ETL pipelines, ensuring clean, timely data flows from source systems (Salesforce, payment processors, web analytics, etc.) into the warehouse
- Define and enforce data quality standards, including validation rules, alerting, and documentation practices
- Evaluate and recommend tooling changes where the current infrastructure is limiting analytical capability
*Analytics & Reporting*
- Build and maintain executive dashboards and self-serve reporting that allow leadership to monitor KPIs without analyst bottlenecks
- Proactively surface insights about donor behavior, nonprofit partner performance, and platform health
- Partner with leadership to identify where data can unlock new strategic objectives during goal-setting cycles
- Establish a culture of data literacy across the organization through documentation, training, and accessible tooling
- Serve as an analytics and reporting consultant to internal departments
*Data Governance*
- Establish lightweight but effective data governance practices, including shared KPI definitions, source-of-truth standards, metadata documentation, and stewardship responsibilities across teams
