Role summary

DeepMind is seeking a Product Manager for Information Quality within its Frontier AI team. This role focuses on understanding and mitigating the societal impacts of generative AI, particularly concerning misinformation, content provenance, and the economics of information. The Product Manager will collaborate with researchers and product teams across Google to ship AI safety and information integrity advances, develop tools to enhance information literacy, and investigate economic models for sustainable knowledge creation. The ideal candidate has a background in Computer Science, Information Science, or Economics, with demonstrated experience in AI products related to trust & safety, information retrieval, or misinformation detection, and a strong understanding of generative AI's societal challenges.

The Role

As a product manager at Google DeepMind you will be responsible for shipping cutting edge AI research breakthroughs into Google’s AI models and products. As a PM on Frontier AI within GDM you will be working with brilliant AI researchers who are focused on making the biggest advances across new model architectures, AGI and advanced applications like Agents and Robotics. As the PM for Information Quality within Frontier AI, your job will be to understand the implications of generative AI on the broader societal information ecosystem. You will tackle critical challenges surrounding misinformation, advance the detection and provenance of genAI content, and analyze the shifting economics of information in a society augmented by AI. In addition to shipping robust safety and information integrity advances into our existing models, you will work closely with researchers to incubate new agentic tools designed to promote information literacy and help users navigate an increasingly complex digital world.

Key responsibilities:

  • Understand the societal impact of new generative models and drive research breakthroughs in information quality, provenance, and trust.
  • Build collaborations with product teams across Google (e.g., Search, YouTube, News) and model development teams to ship cutting-edge genAI detection and misinformation mitigation technologies.
  • Work with researchers to envision, develop, and ship new agentic tools aimed at enhancing human information literacy and critical understanding of AI-generated content.
  • Investigate and model the economics of information to ensure sustainable, high-quality knowledge creation and dissemination in an AI-abundant future.
  • Evangelize research in AI safety and information integrity, making technical breakthroughs as self-serve and platformized as possible to scale across Google products.
  • Sometimes, incubate entirely new products or frameworks focused on societal resilience and trust.
  • About You

    In order to set you up for success as a Product Manager at DeepMind, we look for the following skills and experience:

  • BSc, MSc or PhD in Computer Science, Information Science, Economics, or a related field.
  • Deep understanding of AI models and their implications for content generation and dissemination.
  • Demonstrated experience in building AI products rooted in trust & safety, information retrieval, content provenance, or misinformation detection.
  • A rich understanding of the current societal challenges posed by generative AI, including the economics of the web and digital information ecosystems.
  • Ability to stay up-to-speed on all relevant research in synthetic content detection, watermarking, and agentic systems.
  • Ability to build clear visions and strategies for translating complex societal challenges into scalable product features or tools.
  • Strong ability to communicate complex technical and societal concepts with great simplicity.
  • Very strong ability to collaborate in high stakes environments with multiple senior stakeholders, policy experts, and technical leads.
  • The US base salary range for this full-time position is between $240,000 USD - $334,000 USD + bonus + equity + benefits. Your recruiter can share more about the specific salary range for your targeted location during the hiring process.
