Role summary

Google is seeking Senior Software Engineers for its Android TV Operating Systems team. This role involves developing next-generation technologies for billions of users, focusing on the TV experience with products like Chromecast with Google TV. Engineers will work on scaling across the OEM ecosystem, collaborating with partners and internal Google teams. The position requires innovation, design, implementation, integration, and testing of new software features for TV embedded systems, with a strong emphasis on quality for Android TV platform components such as Media Framework, System Performance, Connectivity, Interactions, Power Management, and Software Upgrade. The role demands versatility, leadership qualities, and enthusiasm for tackling new challenges across the full stack.

### Minimum qualifications:

- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
- 5 years of experience with software development in Java or C++ programming languages.
- 3 years of experience with android framework development.
3 years of experience testing, maintaining, or launching software products, and 1 year of experience with large-scale application design and architecture.

### Preferred qualifications:

  • Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or a related technical field.
  • 5 years of experience with data structures and algorithms.
  • 1 year of experience in a technical leadership role.
  • Experience in development, debugging and testing work in android framework, networking or Linux.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $174,000-$252,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. ## Responsibilities

  • Write and test product or system development code.
  • Participate in, or lead design reviews with peers and stakeholders to decide amongst available technologies.
  • Review code developed by other developers and provide feedback to ensure best practices (e.g., style guidelines, checking code in, accuracy, testability, and efficiency).
  • Innovate, design, implement, integrate and test new software features for TV embedded systems (streaming sticks, panel TVs and set top boxes).
  • Develop Android TV platform components, with a high focus on quality, such as Media Framework, System Performance, Connectivity, Interactions, Power Management, Software Upgrade.
