Role summary

Google is seeking a Senior UX Researcher for its Search Ads team. This role involves conducting primary research to understand user needs and motivations, influencing product strategy, and driving user-centric solutions throughout the product development lifecycle. Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 6 years of experience in an applied research setting (e.g., product or academic), or similar.
  • Experience with research methods (e.g., usability, studies, contextual inquires, 1:1 interviews, unmoderated research studies).

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master's degree or PhD in Human-Computer Interaction, Cognitive Science, Statistics, Psychology, Anthropology, or a related field.
  • 5 years of experience conducting UX research on products and working with executive leadership (e.g., Director level and above).
  • 3 years of experience managing projects, and working in a large, cross-functional organization.

You’ll play a critical role in helping your team understand user needs and will drive impact at all stages of product development, ensuring products are useful, usable, and helpful. You will explore user behaviors and motivations by conducting primary research, including: field studies, interviews, diary studies, ethnography, surveys, usability testing, and logs analysis. You will also grow within a supportive UXR community offering mentorship, regular meetups, and exclusive internal tools.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $159,000-$231,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

  • Conduct and lead research to identify user needs and business opportunities that guide product/service strategy, improvements and business goals.
  • Drive user-centric thinking to influence partners and collaboratively solve constraints in strategy, product or technology.
  • Build consensus and influence the team to gain support for research-based, user-centric solutions, and communicate research insights and recommendations to partners.
  • Identify, create and use key insights and metrics to evaluate product, service and ecosystem impact.
  • Contribute to developing project priorities in alignment with larger project goals, and coordinate allocation of resources within the project. Identify a research program by planning, designing and engaging in strategic and tactical research that informs the product/service/business.
