Role summary

The Product Data Scientist, Geo Places will partner with cross-functional stakeholders to measure and improve the quality and quantity of place data. This role involves developing models, analyzing logs, and designing attribution metrics to enhance Maps user experiences. The Product Data Scientist will utilize experimentation and causal analysis to understand the impact of data quality on user behavior and product usage, influencing organizational priorities for data-focused investments. The position requires a strong quantitative background with experience in statistical analysis and coding.

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in statistics, mathematics, data science, engineering, physics, economics, a related quantitative field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 5 years of experience with analysis applications (e.g., extracting insights, performing statistical analysis, or solving business problems), and coding (e.g., Python, R, SQL) (or 2 years of experience with a Master's degree).

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master's degree in statistics, mathematics, data science, engineering, physics, economics, or a related quantitative field.

About the job
The US base salary range for this full-time position is $138,000-$198,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

  • Partner with stakeholders across multiple functions to measure quality and quantity of place data through a combination of modeling, agentic operators, and logs analysis.
  • Prioritize and communicate data needs, making recommendations and driving implementation for data curation efforts to improve Maps user experiences.
  • Design and implement attribution metrics for stakeholder programs. Conduct analyses and influence organizational priorities for focused investments.
  • Utilize experimentation and causal analysis to demonstrate effects of data quality and coverage on user behavior and product usage.
