Role summary

This Software Engineering Manager role focuses on Search Ads Analysis Infrastructure, leading a team of engineers to build and optimize systems that enable faster, safer, and more reliable experimentation and analysis for Search Ads developers. The manager will provide technical and people leadership, contribute to product strategy, and oversee large-scale project deployments. The role involves solving complex technical and business challenges directly impacting Google's bottom line and advertisers, with a focus on driving innovations in areas like uplift estimates, incrementality, and A/B testing infrastructure. The team's mission is to support data-driven decisions and scale the Search Ads business.

  • Baby Bonding Leave: 18 weeks

### Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 8 years of experience in software development.
  • 3 years of experience with developing large-scale infrastructure, distributed systems or networks, or experience with compute technologies, storage or hardware architecture.
  • 3 years of experience in a technical leadership role.
  • 2 years of experience in a people management or team leadership role.

### Preferred qualifications:

  • Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science, or a related technical field.
  • 3 years of experience working in a complex, matrixed organization.
  • Experience in distributed systems, algorithms and SQL.
  • Familiarity with log processing.
  • Track record of being ambitious, independent, thinking out of the box, with strong leadership and collaboration skills.

The team's mission is to enable Search Ads developers to turn ideas into reality quickly, safely and efficiently. Our team provides the experimentation and analysis infrastructure needs for data driven decisions across the Search Ads business which generates XXXB/year revenue while enabling it to scale.

Also the foundation for many experiment related products such as: counterfactuals, incrementality and advertiser A/B experiments.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $207,000-$300,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. ## Responsibilities

  • Design and build solutions that make experimentation and analysis in Search Ads easier, faster, reliable and safe.
  • Drive direction, from innovations behind advertiser-level uplift estimates, incrementality, and the analysis tools powered by auction counterfactuals, managing efficiency/privacy compliance of logging, making complex analysis easy, creating designs to solve ambiguous problems and code solutions delivered to Data Scientists/Engineers in Search Ads.
