Role summary

Google is seeking versatile Software Engineers to develop next-generation technologies that impact billions of users. This role focuses on improving Google Ads buying on display ad exchanges through bid optimization and prediction quality improvements within the App Ads, Video Ads, and Display ads organization. Engineers will work on critical projects, contributing to massive-scale systems involving machine learning, big data, distributed systems, and advanced data mining. Responsibilities include writing and reviewing code, debugging system issues, and implementing ML solutions. The position requires a Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience, with preferred qualifications including advanced degrees and experience in ML, optimization, or statistics.

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 2 years of experience with software development in one or more programming languages, or 1 year of experience with an advanced degree.
  • 1 year of experience with ML infrastructure (e.g., model deployment, model evaluation, data processing, debugging).
  • Experience using SQL for data extraction, manipulation, and analysis.
  • Experience developing software applications using the C++ programming language.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or related technical fields.
  • 2 years of experience with data structures and algorithms.
  • Experience in one of the following: optimization, ML, statistics, auction theory.
  • Ability to apply technical foundations, especially around coding, data analysis, building features, and experimentations.

You will be responsible for end-to-end project ownership for improving Google ads buying on display ad exchanges through bid optimization and prediction quality improvements.
The US base salary range for this full-time position is $147,000-$211,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

  • Write product or system development code.
  • Collaborate with peers and stakeholders through design and code reviews to ensure best practices amongst available technologies (e.g., style guidelines, checking code in, accuracy, testability, and efficiency).
  • Contribute to existing documentation or educational content and adapt content based on product/program updates and user feedback.
  • Triage product or system issues and debug/track/resolve by analyzing the sources of issues and the impact on hardware, network, or service operations and quality.
  • Implement solutions in one or more specialized ML areas, utilize ML infrastructure, and contribute to model optimization and data processing.
