Software Engineer, Image Processing, Platforms and Devices
Role summary
Google is seeking Software Engineers to develop next-generation technologies for billions of users. This role focuses on Camera solutions, including quality design and Android camera quality infrastructure development within the Platforms and Devices team. You will work on specific projects critical to Google's needs, contributing to massive-scale information handling and system design. The role requires versatility, leadership qualities, and enthusiasm for tackling new challenges across the full-stack. You will write and test code, participate in design reviews, review peer code, contribute to documentation, and debug system issues. This is a full-time position with a US base salary range of $174,000-$252,000, plus bonus, equity, and benefits.
Minimum qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
- 5 years of experience programming in C++.
- 3 years of experience testing, maintaining, or launching software products, and 1 year of experience with software design and architecture.
- Experience in image processing, computer vision, or computational photography development (e.g., image signal processing, algorithm design, or image quality evaluation).
Preferred qualifications:
- Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or a related technical field.
- 5 years of experience with data structures and algorithms.
- 1 year of experience in a technical leadership role.
- Experience developing accessible technologies.

The Platforms and Devices team encompasses Google's various computing software platforms across environments (desktop, mobile, applications), as well as our first party devices and services that combine the best of Google AI, software, and hardware. Teams across this area research, design, and develop new technologies to make our user's interaction with computing faster and more seamless, building innovative experiences for our users around the world.
The US base salary range for this full-time position is $174,000-$252,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities
- Write and test product or system development code.
- Participate in, or lead design reviews with peers and stakeholders to decide amongst available technologies.
- Review code developed by other developers and provide feedback to ensure best practices (e.g., style guidelines, checking code in, accuracy, testability, and efficiency).
- Contribute to existing documentation or educational content and adapt content based on product/program updates and user feedback.
- Triage product or system issues and debug/track/resolve by analyzing the sources of issues and the impact on hardware, network, or service operations and quality.
