Role summary

As a Technical Program Manager II for Software Engineering on the Geo team, you will lead complex, multi-disciplinary engineering projects from start to finish. You will leverage your technical expertise to plan requirements, identify risks, manage project schedules, and communicate clearly with cross-functional partners. Your role involves working with internal customers, managing the entire project lifecycle, and discussing technical trade-offs with engineers. You will also develop tools and processes to enhance software engineering productivity and communicate status to all levels of the company. The Geo team focuses on building accurate and useful maps through products like Maps, Earth, and Street View, impacting over a billion users monthly.

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 2 years of experience in program management.
  • Experience with software development and managing execution of programs that span multiple engineering teams.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master’s degree or PhD in Engineering, Computer Science, or related technical field.
  • 2 years of experience managing cross-functional or cross-team projects.
  • Experience with lifecycle management in a fast-paced software environment or building product requirements and managing the product life cycle end to end.
  • Experience within the Automotive, Transportation, Mapping (GIS) industries or working on consumer facing products.
  • Ability to use technical judgment to solve software engineering challenges involving bug triage, source control, continuous integration, etc.
  • Ability to be influential on a highly integrated team of technical and non-technical members as well as working with or managing third-party vendors.

As a Technical Program Manager at Google, you lead complex, multi-disciplinary engineering projects using your engineering expertise. You plan requirements with internal customers and usher projects through the entire project lifecycle. This includes managing project schedules, identifying risks and clearly communicating them to project stakeholders. You're equally at home explaining your team's analyses and recommendations to executives as you are discussing the technical trade-offs in product development with engineers. Using your extensive technical and leadership expertise, you manage projects of various size and scope, identifying future opportunities, improving processes and driving the technical directions of your programs.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $138,000-$198,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
