Role summary

Google is seeking Software Engineers to develop next-generation technologies that impact billions of users globally. This role focuses on AI/ML within the Health and Home domain, requiring expertise in Python, ML infrastructure, and areas like NLP or Generative AI. Engineers will write code, implement ML solutions, optimize models, and contribute to the development of LLM-based tools for generating synthetic user data and conversations. The position involves defining metrics for data quality assessment and advancing the realism of synthetic contexts for feature evaluations. This is a full-time, remote position with a competitive salary and benefits package.

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 2 years of experience with software development in Python programming languages, or 1 year of experience with an advanced degree.
  • 1 year of experience with ML infrastructure (e.g., model deployment, model evaluation, optimization, data processing, debugging).
  • 1 year of experience with one or more of the following: natural language processing, generative AI, ML infrastructure, or specialization in another ML field.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science, or a related technical field.
  • Experience with LLM prompt engineering, data analysis, and iterative quality improvement.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $147,000-$211,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

  • Write product or system development code.
  • Implement solutions in one or more specialized Machine Learning (ML) areas, utilize ML infrastructure, and contribute to model optimization and data processing.
  • Contribute to the development of Large Language Model (LLM) based tools for generating simulated users and user conversations.
  • Develop the tools to advance the quality, complexity, and realism of synthetic context for use in health and home feature evaluations.
  • Help define metrics and methods for assessing the quality of synthetic data.
