Role summary

Gray Manufacturing Technologies seeks a Quality Assurance Engineer to support the Quality Manager in ensuring products meet design specifications and comply with customer and regulatory requirements. The role requires 3-5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably in aerospace or defense, with knowledge of AS9100 QMS, inspection, and calibration. Proficiency in GD&T is essential. Experience programming Zeiss CMM with Calypso software is a plus. The position involves quality planning, first article support, calibration management, and driving continuous improvement projects. This is a full-time, onsite position.

Quality Assurance Engineer

Gray Manufacturing Technologies has an immediate opening for a Quality Assurance Engineer. GMT is a diversified small business supplier to leading aerospace, defense, and professional motorsports teams. The Quality Assurance Engineer role will support the Quality Manger to ensure all products manufactured by the company meet engineering design specifications and ensure company compliance with all customer and regulatory requirements.

The ideal candidate will have the following attributes:

  • Experience working in Aerospace Machining, Composite/Metal Bonding, Heat Treating, Chemical Processing, and Painting operations.
  • Working knowledge of AS9100 QMS, Inspection, Calibration, Quality Engineering, Environmental Compliance, Internal Audit, and Supplier Review.
  • 3-5 years experience as an inspector or quality engineer, in a manufacturing environment from aerospace and/or defense industries.
  • Strong analytical, communication, organizational, strategic and statistical skill.
  • Team oriented with a continuous improvement outlook.
  • An effective sense of urgency and ability to support multiple priorities in a fast paced, small company environment.
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
  • Proficient with GD&T
  • Experience programming Zeiss CMM with Calypso software a plus.

The Quality Technician role includes:

  • Support submittal of first articles and their presentation to the customer.
  • Quality Planning
  • Ensure inspection equipment maintains calibration
  • Program Zeiss Accura II CMM with Calypso
  • Other quality related projects or duties as assigned by management

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Support all elements of the quality program and for driving overall quality in all aspects of manufacturing.
  • Support the performance and development activities required to assure the delivery of high quality materials and services.
  • Responsible for defining and implementing of crucial processes and metrics to meet customer, quality expectations, internal quality expectations, financial, and contractual commitments.
  • Support the process compliance / quality for the facility.
  • Responsible for defining, monitoring, and improving the quality metrics for the shop.
  • Identify, drive, mentor and implement projects that improve quality.
  • Lead interface with Quality, Manufacturing, Sourcing and Engineering.
  • Support Quality System and manage ISO/AS compliance issues
  • Support and lead kaizen events, six sigma efforts and continuous improvement projects
  • Interface with internal / external customers.
  • Work closely with operations team to set goals and improvements.
  • Process capability measurements and improvements.
