Greater Rochester Enterprise (GRE) is seeking a Data Analyst Intern to support economic development efforts in the Greater Rochester–Finger Lakes Region. This role involves collecting, organizing, and analyzing business, industry, and workforce data to inform business attraction, retention, and expansion strategies. The intern will also assist with research for outreach campaigns, RFIs, and RFPs, and identify potential database improvements. This part-time, hourly internship is ideal for a BA/BS or MS candidate interested in applied analytics and data-informed decision-making, with a duration of approximately 13 weeks.

Position Description:
The Data Analyst Intern supports business attraction and expansion efforts across the nine‑county Greater Rochester–Finger Lakes Region of New York by providing research, data analysis, and data preparation to advance the mission of Greater Rochester Enterprise (GRE).
This role is ideal for a BA/BS or MS candidate interested in applied analytics, economic development, and data-informed decision-making.
Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities:
Collect, organize, and maintain accurate data across GRE’s systems to support data and research activities, and identify new sources of information that strengthen regional economic analysis.
Analyze business, industry, workforce, and skill attainment data to develop insights that inform business attraction, retention, expansion, and marketing efforts in the Greater Rochester region.
Support GRE outreach and lead generation campaigns by researching companies, industry trends, and regional assets.
Compile data and provide reliable research and analysis for business development materials.
Work closely with GRE team members to research, synthesize, and prepare information for Requests for Information (RFIs) and Requests for Proposals (RFPs), and develop comparative analyses with competing cities and regions.
Identify data or database issues and recommend improvements.
Essential Qualifications:
Must demonstrate strong written and verbal communication skills; show foundational abilities in data analysis, research, and working with spreadsheets or databases; manage tasks with supervision; and work effectively as part of a team. Pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree in a related field. Familiarity with Python, SQL, Salesforce, and data visualization tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau) is a plus.

Compensation:
