Role summary
This is a high-impact leadership position within the Government Solutions Group, responsible for driving strategic initiatives and shaping product lines for government customers. The role involves defining technical architecture and long-term engineering strategy. The AI/ML Engineering Manager will lead and grow engineering teams, own end-to-end delivery of cross-functional initiatives, and establish engineering excellence. Key responsibilities include recruiting, mentoring, and retaining top talent, managing stakeholder relationships, and ensuring operational excellence for mission-critical systems. A strong background in distributed systems, microservices, cloud platforms, and backend systems is required, along with 10+ years of software engineering experience and 5+ years in engineering management. The Role

You will shape the direction of critical product lines serving government customers, influencing both technical architecture and long-term engineering strategy. This is a highly visible role offering the autonomy to make a meaningful impact at the intersection of technology and public sector innovation.
What You’ll Do
- Lead and grow one or more engineering teams, including tech leads and senior individual contributors
- Define and execute the technical roadmap in close partnership with Product, Design, and Engineering leadership
- Own end-to-end delivery of large, cross-functional initiatives spanning multiple teams and quarters
- Establish and uphold engineering excellence through best practices, architecture reviews, and quality standards
- Foster a high-performance culture centered on innovation, accountability, and continuous improvement
- Partner with senior leadership to influence organizational strategy and company-wide technical decisions
- Recruit, mentor, and retain top engineering talent while developing future engineering leaders
- Manage complex stakeholder relationships and communicate effectively across all levels of the organization
- Ensure operational excellence for mission-critical, high-availability systems
- Balance feature delivery with technical debt management while navigating competing priorities
What You Bring
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience
- 10+ years of software engineering experience, including 5+ years in engineering management
- Proven success building, scaling, and leading high-performing engineering teams
- Deep expertise in distributed systems, microservices architecture, and cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure)
- Strong background in backend systems and large-scale data platforms
- Demonstrated ability to lead complex, ambiguous, cross-functional programs from concept to delivery
- Exceptional track record in hiring, developing, and retaining top talent
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels
- Experience operating and scaling 24/7 mission-critical production systems
