Role summary

Our Aviation market is seeking a Deputy Program Manager to report to the Project Director and ensure the successful delivery of complex construction projects, particularly in airports. This role involves significant field time to monitor progress, proactively identify issues, and hold contractors and design teams accountable. Key responsibilities include managing the change process, overseeing contractor proposals, reviewing payment applications, implementing risk mitigation plans, coordinating stakeholder meetings, and ensuring compliance with safety, security, and quality plans. The Deputy Program Manager will also lead corrective action implementation and review project controls and reports for accuracy.

The Deputy Program Manager reports to the Project Director and is responsible for ensuring the successful delivery of the project by both the Contractor and the Design Team. They spend significant time in the field, monitoring progress and proactively identifying potential issues before they affect the project’s budget or schedule. The Deputy Program Manager holds both the Contractor and Design Team accountable, assisting with and/or suggesting resolutions. They are also in charge of Change Management, overseeing and recommending approval for Construction Change Directives and Change Orders.

Additional tasks that the Deputy Program Manager will support, or lead include but are not limited to:

  • Evaluating Project Progress and Ensuring Contractor is Staying within Scope, Budget, and Schedule.
  • Lead the Change Management Process including Evaluation of Contractor Change Proposals.
  • Review and Approval of Contractor Payment Applications.
  • Implementation of Risk Identification and Mitigation Plans.
  • Coordination of Project Meetings with Stakeholders.
  • Review and Oversight of Contractor Safety Plan Compliance.
  • Review and Oversight of Contractor Security Plan Compliance.
  • Review and Oversight of Contractor Quality Plan Compliance.
  • Leading Project Team in Corrective Action Plan Implementation (if necessary).
  • Review of Project Controls and Reports to assist with Report Accuracy of Field Conditions.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor's degree in construction management or a related field is preferred, but equivalent years of experience will be considered in place of the degree.
  • 15+ years of experience in complex construction projects is recommended; Airport Construction experience is preferred.
  • Licenses/Registrations/Certifications are encouraged, and applicants may be required to participate in certification and training courses post-hire as required by OSHA, industry, and/or client-specific requirements.
