Role summary
An early-stage AI infrastructure company, backed by Greylock and leading enterprise technology founders, is seeking a Chief Scientist to lead the development of next-generation autonomous systems for enterprise operations and infrastructure. The role involves building an AI-native platform capable of learning, reasoning, and autonomously resolving issues across IT, endpoint, and security workflows. The ideal candidate will possess deep expertise in machine learning and complex systems, with a strong background in AI research, autonomous systems, or large-scale distributed systems. This position is highly research-oriented yet practical, focusing on autonomy, reasoning, reliability, and safe AI operation in complex enterprise environments.
Early-stage AI infrastructure company (Seed, backed by Greylock and leading enterprise technology founders) is hiring a Chief Scientist to help build next-generation autonomous systems for enterprise operations and infrastructure.
The company is building an AI-native platform that learns enterprise environments, reasons across operational complexity, and autonomously resolves issues across endpoint, IT, and security workflows. The broader vision is to create adaptive enterprise systems that dramatically reduce operational friction while improving resilience, visibility, and employee productivity.
Founded by a successful serial entrepreneur with multiple major exits, the team includes senior engineers and researchers from companies such as CrowdStrike, Microsoft, Apple, etc.
We are looking for an accomplished technical leader with deep expertise in machine learning and complex systems. Strong candidates may come from backgrounds including:
- AI systems and infrastructure
- autonomous or agentic systems
- program analysis and reasoning systems
- large-scale distributed systems
- enterprise-scale ML platforms
- operational intelligence
- security-adjacent AI systems
- compilers, runtimes, or adaptive infrastructure
- anomaly detection and decision-making systems
This role is highly research-oriented but also deeply practical. The right candidate should be excited by hard technical problems involving autonomy, reasoning, reliability, and operating AI systems safely within complex enterprise environments.
Ideal candidates may have experience:
- advancing state-of-the-art ML or systems research
- building production AI systems at scale
- leading technical research organizations
- translating foundational research into deployed products
- operating in high-ambiguity startup environments
Prior startup experience is helpful but not required.
Application Process
I personally review every application and will reach out directly if there appears to be strong alignment. Initial conversations are focused on understanding your background, technical interests, and long-term goals, while also providing additional context about the company and role.
Due to the volume of applicants, follow-up communication may be limited unless there is strong mutual alignment.
Greylock Talent
I’m a full-time employee of Greylock working directly with the founder and investment team on hiring. There are no fees associated with this process.
