Role summary

Gryd is seeking a full-time Software Engineer to join their dynamic team in Winnipeg. This role focuses on full-stack development, contributing to both B2B and B2C products. Responsibilities include designing, building, and maintaining web (React) and mobile (React Native) applications, translating requirements into deliverables, and resolving complex technical challenges. The ideal candidate will have 3+ years of frontend experience with TypeScript, React, React Native, and Tailwind CSS, and 2+ years of backend experience with Node.js/TypeScript (NestJS). Experience with PostgreSQL, MongoDB, cloud platforms (GCP, AWS), and testing frameworks like Jest is required. Familiarity with DevOps tools like Docker and Kubernetes is a plus. This hybrid role offers flexible hours and a collaborative, results-oriented environment.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

  • Primary focus on Full-Stack Development, while also contributing to DevOps tasks as priorities demand
  • Translate business and functional requirements into clear deliverables and rapid prototypes;
  • Design, build and maintain new features for web (React) and mobile (React Native) applications
  • Convert Figma designs into modular, reusable UI components;
  • Collaborate with Product, Design and Operations to uphold high quality and delivery standards
  • Communicate technical concepts clearly to non-technical stakeholders and leadership
  • Tackle and resolve complex technical challenges across our full stack, i.e. profile systems to identify bottlenecks and apply targeted fixes (e.g. caching, query tuning, refactoring) to boost speed and efficiency.

OUR TECH STACK

  • Cloud & Infrastructure: Google Cloud Platform (GCP), AWS;
  • Frontend: React (web) & React Native (mobile);
  • Backend: NestJS (TypeScript-first, Modular architecture);
  • Databases: PostgreSQL (relational) & MongoDB (NoSQL);
  • Testing: Jest (unit, integration & e2e);
  • CI/CD & Orchestration: Docker, Kubernetes, GitHub Actions.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

  • 3+ years building Frontend apps with TypeScript, React, React Native & Tailwind CSS
  • 2+ years of backend development in Node.js/TypeScript (NestJS)
  • Hands-on with PostgreSQL & MongoDB via TypeORM (or similar ORM)
  • Experience deploying on cloud platforms (GCP, AWS, Azure, etc.)
  • Ability to problem-solve, troubleshoot, debug, and resolve software defects
  • Ability to work independently and take concepts from inception to completion
  • Ability to create straightforward solutions for complex user challenges
  • Able to manage projects and meet deadlines effectively
  • Bonus Points:
  • Prior Startup or high-growth environment experience
  • Containerization & Orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes)
  • Integrating payment and accounting APIs (Stripe, QuickBooks)
