Position Overview
Guzman Energy is looking for a hands-on Data Engineer to join its growing technology team. In this role, you will work directly with data sets and pipelines to deliver actionable insights across the business. You will partner closely with the trade desk, risk, mid-office, and commercial teams to solve real-world problems with data—while also ensuring the continuity and reliability of existing data operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain data pipelines to support analytics and operational reporting
- Ensure the continuity and reliability of existing data flows and operational processes
- Respond to and fulfill data requests from the trade desk, risk, mid-office, and commercial teams
- Develop models, analyses, and visualizations to support business decision-making
- Identify opportunities to improve data quality, pipeline efficiency, and analytical coverage
- Collaborate with engineers and business stakeholders to understand data needs and translate them into technical solutions
- Document data processes, methodologies, and findings for cross-team knowledge sharing
Required Qualifications
- 1 year of experience in a software/data engineering role
- Proficiency in Python for data manipulation, analysis, and pipeline development
- Hands-on experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) services (e.g., BigQuery, Dataflow, Cloud Storage)
- Strong working knowledge of GitHub for version control and collaboration
- Experience working with complex, real-world datasets and production data pipelines
- Strong problem-solving skills with a pragmatic, solutions-oriented mindset
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in energy markets, commodities trading, or financial services
- Familiarity with SQL, dbt, or similar data transformation tools
- Exposure to risk analytics, position management, or trade lifecycle data
