Role summary

Halliburton is seeking a Software Quality Assurance Engineer to mentor a team of testers, ensuring comprehensive quality across software development programs. This role involves manual and automated testing, functional requirements analysis, design reviews, and defect management. The engineer will also contribute to secure architecture design, security vulnerability mitigation, and release planning, including effort estimation and advising on product improvements. The position requires a Bachelor's degree in a relevant field and 4+ years of experience in software testing and/or development. This is an onsite, full-time role based in Calgary, Alberta.

Job Duties

  • Under broad direction, mentors a team of Software Testers that can be comprised of Manual and Automated Test Engineers.
  • Comprehensive understanding of all elements of a successful software development program.
  • Including but not limited to Code Inspections, Manual Testing, Automated Testing, Functional Requirements, Design, Usability, Test plans and Results and Defect Management.
  • Assists with secure architecture design reviews and supports preparing applications for security testing.
  • Ensures security vulnerabilities have been mitigated.
  • This role is an integral part of the planning of future releases including estimating efforts required in Testing and Documentation and advising on product improvements based on experience gained from previous releases and customer feedback.
  • Usually works on projects of moderate to complex scope.

Qualifications

  • Requires completion of an undergraduate degree in Computer Science, Geo-science, Petroleum Engineering or similar discipline.
  • 4+ years of related experience, including software testing and/or development experience.
  • Completion of a masters degree is preferred.
