Who We Are

HaloMD specializes in Independent Dispute Resolution (IDR) through The No Surprises Act and state regulations for out-of-network healthcare providers, leveraging advanced technology and deep industry expertise to secure optimized reimbursements.

About the Role

We are seeking a
Senior Data Analyst
to join the
Report Desk
team within Data Governance. The Report Desk is the analytical nerve center of HaloMD—fielding high-priority, time-sensitive data requests from C-level executives, Client Success teams, Finance, business risk stakeholders, and cross-functional operations.

This is a high-ownership, high-impact analyst role. You will independently own complex analyses end-to-end: interpreting ambiguous business questions, writing sophisticated SQL in both SQL Server and Snowflake to extract answers from healthcare financial data, and delivering executive-ready outputs that drive decisions around IDR (Independent Dispute Resolution) processes, revenue protection, regulatory compliance, client relationships, and business risk mitigation.

The work is varied and fast-moving. In a given week you may parse email communications from CMS and IDR entities to build evidence for a financial risk review, reconcile month-over-month inventory reports for a major client, investigate data quality anomalies in dispute statuses, develop Snowflake logic to detect ineligible or withdrawn disputes, and deliver an urgent payer default frequency analysis requested by the CEO. You will need deep analytical curiosity, the ability to context-switch constantly, and the judgment to know when “good enough fast” matters more than “perfect slow.”

Key Responsibilities

Executive & Finance Analytics

*Approximately 40% of active work. The Report Desk is frequently the last stop before data reaches executives or Finance leadership.*

  • Independently field and deliver ad hoc data requests from C-level executives, Finance teams, and senior leadership with fast turnaround, including payer default frequency analyses, award payment evidence packages, plan type change documentation, and evidence of payer non-compliance
  • Produce analysis-ready data extracts and reports for active business risk reviews (e.g., evidence of cases where insurance cards were absent, payers not responding to open negotiations, payers who changed plan type after initiation)
  • Build and deliver “Executive Ask” analyses that answer “why” and “what does this mean for the business”—not just “what happened”—translating ambiguous questions into clear, actionable SQL queries and formatted outputs
  • Create executive-ready reports in Excel (pivot tables, charts, professional formatting) and occasionally Power BI dashboards for leadership consumption

Client Success & Customer Reporting

*Approximately 30% of active work. Client Success depends on Report Desk for the data behind customer relationships.*

  • Own and deliver recurring and ad hoc client-specific reporting across multiple customers—covering active/aging dispute inventories, ineligibility analyses, plan type overlays, cooling reports, and month-over-month reconciliations
  • Investigate and explain data discrepancies flagged by clients (e.g., eligibility comparison variances, null/missing fields, status mismatches between application and workflow datasets)
  • Support client onboarding/offboarding data needs including inventory file reviews, custom IDR claims reports, and data extracts for system migrations or separations
  • Deliver analyses with the context and narrative that Client Success needs to maintain trust with customers—not just raw numbers

Data Investigation & Logic Development

*Approximately 20% of active work. This is where deep SQL skills and analytical creativity matter most.*

  • Design and implement analytical logic in SQL Server and Snowflake SQL to solve complex data problems: ineligibility detection and cohort operationalization, plan type determination and change-date parsing (including JSON parsing), withdrawal tracking, dispute status reconciliation, and dual-submission (state vs. NSA) analyses
  • Build and maintain email scraping and parsing logic to extract structured evidence from CMS, IDRE, and payer communications (e.g., vacated IDR emails, ineligibility notifications for elective/non-emergency services, technical assistance communications)
  • Investigate data quality issues across IDR workflows, invoicing, and financial datasets—identifying root causes, quantifying impact, and recommending fixes
  • Contribute logic, reviews, and expert advice to shared data assets (application and workflow datasets, stored procedures, reporting views) used by multiple downstream teams
  • Lower and maintain data quality metrics to actionable thresholds that enable efficient business review

Domain Expertise & Legacy-Modern Bridge

*Approximately 10% of active work, but this institutional knowledge compounds and becomes critical over time.*

  • Develop and maintain deep expertise in IDR processes, healthcare financial data, revenue cycle workflows, and regulatory frameworks (state arbitration, NSA, CMS/IDRE communications, cooling logic)
  • Bridge legacy SQL Server and modern Snowflake environments—translating existing stored procedures and logic, identifying discrepancies between old and new systems, and advising on retirement of outdated processes (e.g., state-specific arbitration logic transitions)
  • Support operationalization efforts: help move ad hoc queries into repeatable reporting views, Snowflake tables, and (eventually) DBT models as the team matures its modern data stack
  • Serve as the analytical authority that leadership and cross-functional teams turn to for reliable, trusted answers on complex data questions

Collaboration & Team Enablement

  • Partner with Product Owners across DataNext initiatives (Data Quality, Ad Hoc Reporting, Enterprise Reporting) to share domain expertise and ensure Report Desk deliverables gain enterprise-wide visibility
  • Collaborate with analysts, developers, and onshore/offshore stakeholders to align analytical outputs with evolving requirements across IDR, arbitration, invoicing, cooling/fee tracking, and client reporting
  • Participate in agile workflows using Azure DevOps (user stories, sprint planning, work item tracking) and contribute to team documentation and knowledge-sharing
  • Support team members by providing SQL patterns, email-parsing templates, and institutional context that accelerates their ramp-up

Required Qualifications

Analytical Foundation

  • 5+ years of hands-on data analysis experience with proven ownership of complex, high-stakes analytical deliverables in regulated or data-intensive environments
  • Advanced SQL proficiency across both SQL Server (T-SQL) and Snowflake SQL, including CTEs, joins, text/JSON parsing, window functions, stored procedures, and performance optimization—with the ability to write sophisticated queries for ad hoc analysis under time pressure
  • Strong experience with Snowflake or comparable cloud data warehouse (query authoring, data exploration, logic development, and performance tuning)
  • Hands-on MS SQL Server experience including writing and maintaining stored procedures, views, and complex queries against production databases
  • Strong Excel skills including pivot tables, formulas, data manipulation, and executive-level formatting for stakeholder-ready outputs
  • Experience parsing and extracting structured information from semi-structured data sources (emails, JSON fields, free-text communications)

Analytical Judgment & Communication

  • Demonstrated ability to translate ambiguous or loosely-defined business questions into clear, actionable analytical outputs—without requiring step-by-step instructions
  • Ability to communicate technical findings to non-technical stakeholders in clear, business-focused language—and to push back constructively when a request needs refinement before analysis begins
  • Comfort producing client-facing and executive-ready deliverables where accuracy and presentation quality both matter

Core Competencies

  • Exceptional ownership and accountability—ability to independently manage a portfolio of 10–15+ concurrent analytical requests across different stakeholders, from intake through delivery, without constant oversight
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver high-impact results under time pressure: urgent executive requests, revenue-critical analyses, client-facing deliverables with hard deadlines, and financial risk analyses with significant business consequences
  • Strong investigative instincts—identifies root causes in complex datasets, quantifies impact, designs clean and scalable logic, and delivers reliable results that reduce downstream errors and manual effort
  • Comfort context-switching rapidly between deep analytical work, stakeholder conversations, and quick-turnaround requests throughout the day
  • Intellectual curiosity to develop deep domain expertise in a complex, regulated industry (healthcare IDR) rather than treating data work as purely technical

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in healthcare, revenue cycle, claims/arbitration (IDR/NSA), or regulated data environments (HIPAA compliance)
  • Familiarity with DBT for transformation modeling, testing, and documentation
  • Experience with Azure DevOps/Repos for version control and collaborative development workflows
  • Power BI experience—building visualizations, dashboards, and ad hoc reports for stakeholder self-service
  • Snowflake certification (SnowPro Core or Advanced)
  • Background bridging legacy (SQL Server) and modern (Snowflake) environments, including translating stored procedures and institutional logic
  • Previous experience in a fast-paced startup or growth-stage company where adaptability, autonomy, and ownership are essential
