Role summary

NorthStar Utilities Solutions is seeking a remote DevOps Engineer to join their R&D team. This role is critical for bridging software development and IT operations, focusing on automating software delivery, managing cloud infrastructure, and ensuring system reliability and security. The engineer will design and implement CI/CD pipelines, develop Infrastructure as Code, and collaborate with development teams to build scalable systems. Responsibilities include monitoring, troubleshooting, and enhancing security protocols. The ideal candidate will have 3-5 years of experience, proficiency in languages like Python or Java, and experience with CI/CD tools, containerization (Docker, Kubernetes), and IaC tools (Ansible, Terraform). Cloud platform experience (AWS, Azure, GCP) is a plus.

We are seeking a skilled and experienced DevOps Engineer to join our dynamic R&D team. This role is crucial for bridging the gap between our software development and IT operations. The ideal candidate will be responsible for building and maintaining the systems and infrastructure that enable our development teams to release high-quality software faster and more reliably. You will play a key role in the automation, deployment, and maintenance of our cloud-based production systems.

What Your Impact Will Be

  • Design, implement, and manage CI/CD pipelines to automate software delivery.
  • Build, modify, and maintain deployment packages and automated scripts.
  • Manage and optimize our cloud infrastructure.
  • Develop and maintain Infrastructure as Code (IaC).
  • Automate and streamline our operations and development processes.
  • Collaborate with development teams to design scalable, reliable, and maintainable infrastructure.
  • Monitor system performance, troubleshoot issues, and ensure high availability.
  • Enhance IT infrastructure security protocols and ensure compliance with best practices.
  • Provide technical support and assistance to the Professional Services and Support teams.
  • Recommend and implement improvements to our development, integration, and support practices.
  • Mentor junior team members and perform code reviews.

What We Are Looking For

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a DevOps, system administration, or software development role.
  • Strong experience with programming languages such as Java or Python.
  • Proven experience with CI/CD tools like Jenkins, GitLab CI, or similar.
  • Experience with containerization and orchestration technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools like Ansible, Terraform, or CloudFormation.
  • Experience working with databases including one or more of the following: MS SQL, Oracle, PostgreSQL, or MySQL.
  • Knowledge of cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud is a strong asset.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
  • Ability to work independently and as a collaborative team player.
