Data Engineer
Role summary
A Principal Data Engineer is sought to lead and mentor data engineering tech leads, focusing on Databricks and guiding multiple build teams through the full software development lifecycle. This role involves defining best practices, driving Databricks implementation to replace legacy systems, and providing technical direction, coaching, and governance. The Role
• Lead and mentor data engineering tech leads across multiple build teams, focusing on Databricks.
• Guide teams through the full software development lifecycle, from design to deployment.
• Define best practices, establish common code frameworks, and enhance engineering maturity.
• Drive the implementation of Databricks solutions to replace legacy analytical platforms.
• Provide technical direction, coaching, and governance to 3-4 build teams.
• Oversee and optimize Spark performance and platform costs.
What You'll Need
• 3–5 years of hands-on Databricks experience, including related data governance and reporting technologies.
• Proven experience in a Tech Lead role, distributing and decomposing work for developers.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to mentor, influence, and align cross-functional stakeholders.
• Solid understanding of general analytics, data warehousing, and modern data engineering practices.
• Experience working in Agile frameworks and writing high-quality user stories.
• Ability to engage with business leaders to recommend strategic solutions and support data self-service.
