Role summary
This role is a mission-critical opportunity to modernize defense finance by unlocking insights from massive DoD datasets. The Data Analyst will bridge financial reporting and data science, using SQL and BI tools to transform complex transaction data into actionable intelligence for high-stakes decision-making. Finance Functional Analyst

You will bridge the gap between financial reporting and data science, utilizing SQL and BI tools to transform complex transaction data into actionable intelligence for high-stakes decision-making.
The Role
• Lead financial investigations by transforming disparate data sets (contracts, invoicing, general ledger) into structured databases and automated reconciliations.
• Build high-impact dashboards and visualizations using Qlik Sense or Tableau to facilitate management decisions and audit readiness.
• Interface directly with stakeholders, the DoD Inspector General, and independent auditors to provide data-driven solutions for complex inquiries.
• Manage technical workflows using Scrum Agile methodologies, ensuring data ingestion business rules are accurate and audit-compliant.
• Drive large-scale process improvements by standardizing data integrity checks across the defense landscape.
What You'll Need
• 5+ years of experience in financial reporting, audit, or internal controls within a DoD or Fortune 500 environment.
• Advanced proficiency in SQL for data ingestion, normalization, and building complex data reconciliations.
• Hands-on experience with modern relational databases like MySQL or PostgreSQL and BI platforms (Tableau, Qlik Sense).
• Proven ability to lead teams and manage projects within a fast-paced Scrum/Agile development framework.
• Active Secret security clearance and a Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative field (Accounting, Finance, Mathematics, or CS).
• Strong technical communication skills with the ability to brief senior leadership and navigate complex matrix environments.
