A global leader in aerospace and defense innovation seeks an Electro-Optics/Infrared Lab Test Engineer to join their physics laboratory. This role involves designing and executing optical measurements for advanced aircraft displays, laser protection systems, and infrared thermography. Responsibilities include leading lab innovation, developing optical tests, performing modeling and simulation, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams on RCS, EMI/EMC, and Antenna Pattern testing, and analyzing data to ensure system compliance with flight requirements. A Bachelor's degree in a relevant STEM field, practical experience with EO/IR development, and U.S. Citizenship are required.

Step into a world-class physics laboratory where you will push the boundaries of light and heat. You’ll be at the forefront of aerospace technology, designing and executing complex optical measurements for next-generation aircraft displays, laser protection systems, and infrared thermography.
The Role

  • Lead and execute lab innovation activities involving EO/IR sensors, fiber-optic systems, and advanced laser components.
  • Design and develop tailored optical tests for aircraft lighting, material properties, and sensor performance validation.
  • Perform high-stakes modeling, simulation, and trade studies to predict the performance of electromagnetic systems and interconnects.
  • Collaborate across multidisciplinary teams supporting Radar Cross Section (RCS), EMI/EMC, and Antenna Pattern testing environments.
  • Analyze complex data sets to ensure supplier hardware and integrated systems meet rigorous aerospace flight requirements.

What You'll Need

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Physics, Optics, or a related STEM field (Mechanical or Aeronautical Engineering).
  • Practical experience or exposure to Electro-Optical (EO) development including fiber-optics, microwave components, or RF testing.
  • Proficiency in lab environments with sensors, lasers, and telecommunications products or simulation tools.
  • U.S. Citizenship is required to obtain a U.S. Secret Security Clearance.
  • Ability to travel up to 10% to support enterprise-wide testing initiatives across different lab sites.
