Role summary

Mission Hospital seeks a Director of Quality to lead the Quality/Safety Department under the VP of Quality. This role involves managing staff, coordinating patient safety initiatives, and collaborating with various departments and leadership levels. The Director will oversee daily operations, ensure efficient processes, and contribute to departmental goals. Key responsibilities include managing quality metrics, incident triage, and action plan development to improve patient and staff safety. The position requires a Bachelor's degree, RN license, and at least three years of management experience in continuous improvement, systems analysis, and team building. Certification in Healthcare Quality or Patient Safety is required within two years.

##### Job Summary and Qualifications

Provides leadership/coordination of Mission Hospital Quality/Safety Department, working under the direction of the Vice President of Quality and in partnership with the Patient Safety, Risk Management, Environmental Safety and Accreditation Departments. In addition, this person will manage the Quality and Safety Coordinators, Specialists, and administrative staff providing leadership, coaching, and counseling. This position will work collaboratively with Performance Improvement, providing support and integration for patient safety activities for Mission Hospital’s, member and affiliate sites, and ambulatory practices. In the course of this work, he or she will work with all levels of leadership and front line staff throughout Mission Health System including practice/department/division chairs, administrators, supervisors, physicians, nurses, secretarial staff, resident groups, desk staff, and all levels of allied health professionals throughout the system.

Essential Accountabilities:

  • Coordinates responsibilities in collaboration with the Vice President of Quality and Chief Medical Officer relative to Clinical Excellence Scorecard, quality metrics, all corporate led initiatives, all patient improvement opportunities, partnering in the incident triage, assignment of investigations, and coordination of action plans to improve the safety of our patients, visitors, clinicians, and employees.
  • Oversees daily operations to ensure processes are efficient and effective in meeting department goals and objectives.
  • Provides departmental leadership through people who have a direct impact on the department’s/service line’s area of responsibility within the Mission Health System.
  • Participates in leadership growth and development.
  • Completes other duties to support departmental operations as assigned or requested

###### What qualifications you will need:

Required Education:

  • Bachelors Degree
  • (CPHQ) Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality, or (CPPS) Certified Professional in Patient Safety must be obtained within 2 years of employment start date

Preferred Education: Master’s Degree in a related field

Required License: (RN) Registered Nurse

Required Experience: At least three years of relevant management experience, with specific emphasis in: continuous improvement, customer service, systems analysis, group leadership and facilitation, interpersonal communication, and team building, Personal computer (Microsoft Office) knowledge and proficiency. Knowledge of management principles and techniques, problem-solving methodologies and analytical techniques. Knowledge of basic statistics, data analysis, and graphical display of information. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Other required abilities: critical thinking, flexibility, ability to serve as a change agent, ability to provide encouragement and to stimulate innovative thinking under adverse conditions and short deadlines.
