Job Summary
The Software Engineer assists in streamlining internal and client processes through automation, data visualization, and iterative product development. This role works within an Agile/Scrum-based development environment, collaborating closely with cross-functional stakeholders to deliver high-quality, incremental software solutions. The Software Engineer utilizes Healthfuse systems and software to analyze industry and client-specific data for the purpose of making business process improvements, supporting contract negotiation recommendations, and demonstrating engagement value and vendor performance.
Core Responsibilities
- Development – Develop, enhance, and maintain Healthfuse applications at the direction of the development lead, delivering work in iterative increments aligned with sprint goals.
- Testing – Perform unit, system, and integration testing. Responsible for designing and executing tests to ensure software quality, usability, and reliability within sprint cycles.
- Documentation – Create and maintain technical documentation, development standards, workflows, and supporting artifacts (e.g., user stories, acceptance criteria, and technical notes) to support Agile delivery.
- Code Review – Participate in peer code reviews to ensure high code quality, identify potential issues early, and continuously improve team standards.
- Support – Provide product and application support to Healthfuse teams as needed, including troubleshooting issues identified during or after sprint releases.
- Planning & Agile Participation – Collaborate with Product, Development, and business stakeholders to gather requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
- Actively participate in Scrum ceremonies, including sprint planning, daily stand-ups, sprint reviews, and retrospectives.
- Assist with backlog refinement by providing technical input, estimates, and feasibility feedback.
- Continuous Improvement – Share ideas and recommendations to improve development processes, team collaboration, and product outcomes, with a focus on iterative and incremental improvement.

- Database Tier: Microsoft SQL Server
- High Availability: Azure environment
- Operational Data Transfer: SFTP Server
- Reporting: Tableau and Microsoft SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS)
- Development Practices:
- Familiarity with Agile/Scrum development methodologies
- Experience working within sprint-based delivery models
- Understanding of version control, code reviews, and incremental releases
Required Qualifications
- Associate degree (A.A./A.S.) or higher or equivalent experience
- Travels when required to fulfill tasks assigned – expectation is 0-10%
- Proven work experience as a Software Engineer or Software Developer
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting abilities
- High data analytics and strong problem-solving skills
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
Desired Qualifications
- Healthcare and Revenue Cycle Management experience preferred
- Experience working in an Agile or Scrum-based development environment
- Ability to collaborate effectively with Product Owners, developers, and cross-functional stakeholders
