About The Role
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Medical Assistant to join our client’s community-focused healthcare team in Albuquerque. This role offers an excellent opportunity to provide hands-on care and support that directly impacts the health and well-being of underserved populations. The Medical Assistant will work closely with healthcare providers and staff to deliver high-quality, patient-centered care in a supportive environment. The position involves a variety of clinical and administrative duties, including preparing patients for examinations, assisting during procedures, administering medications, and maintaining a clean and organized clinical setting. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong communication skills, attention to detail, and a genuine commitment to serving the community’s health needs.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program is mandatory.
- Current Certified Medical Assistant (CMA), Registered Medical Assistant (RMA), or Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) credential is strongly preferred.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS)/CPR certification is required.
- Phlebotomy certification is preferred but not mandatory.
- Prior experience as a medical assistant in a clinical or healthcare setting is highly desirable.
- Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish is strongly preferred to better serve the diverse patient population.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills are essential.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment with a team-oriented approach.
Responsibilities
- Prepare patients for examinations by recording vital signs, medical history, and current complaints.
- Assist healthcare providers during examinations, procedures, and treatments to ensure smooth clinical operations.
- Administer medications and vaccinations under the supervision of a healthcare provider, following all safety protocols.
- Collect, process, and document laboratory specimens accurately, and perform basic tests as needed.
- Support patient education by providing clear instructions and health information to promote understanding and compliance.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of exam rooms, including sterilization of equipment and restocking supplies.
- Coordinate patient flow to optimize clinic efficiency and minimize wait times.
- Handle patient information with strict adherence to HIPAA regulations to ensure confidentiality and privacy.
- Provide administrative support such as updating electronic medical records (EMR), scheduling appointments, and managing patient documentation.
- Assist in inventory management and ordering supplies to ensure clinical readiness at all times.
