About The Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Oil & Gas Title Attorney to join our esteemed legal team in Fort Worth. This position offers an exciting opportunity for legal professionals with expertise in oil and gas law, particularly in land title examination and related legal matters. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing comprehensive legal support related to oil and gas land titles, ensuring compliance with relevant laws, and advising internal teams on legal risks and opportunities. This role requires a detail-oriented individual with a strong background in drafting and analyzing title opinions, negotiating agreements, and representing the company in legal proceedings. The position is onsite in Fort Worth, offering an engaging work environment within a forward-thinking organization.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess a Juris Doctorate from an accredited law school and be admitted to practice law in at least one state. A minimum of two years’ experience in oil and gas title examination and related legal work is essential. Experience in drafting title opinions, analyzing leases, contracts, and deeds, and negotiating oil and gas agreements is highly valued. Candidates with experience outside of Texas, particularly in the Bakken, Oklahoma, and New Mexico regions, will also be considered. Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to interpret complex legal documents are critical for success in this role. A demonstrated understanding of industry standards and regulatory compliance is required, along with excellent communication and collaboration skills.
Responsibilities
- Provide expert legal advice and support on a broad range of oil and gas matters, including exploration, production, transportation, and sales activities.
- Draft comprehensive title opinions that identify and highlight defects, liens, or other issues affecting property ownership or use.
- Analyze legal documents such as leases, deeds, contracts, and other relevant records to determine title status and risks.
- Ensure company compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and industry standards through detailed legal review and guidance.
- Represent the company in legal proceedings, including litigation, arbitration, and negotiations, to protect company interests.
- Collaborate with internal departments to identify potential legal risks and develop effective risk management strategies.
- Stay informed about evolving laws, regulations, and industry trends affecting the oil and gas sector.
- Provide training and legal updates to internal teams to promote awareness and compliance with legal standards.
