About The Role
The Electrical Engineer position at Jobot offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to a leading manufacturing operation based in Davenport, IA. This role is pivotal in supporting and enhancing the efficiency and effectiveness of the rolling manufacturing and process areas. The Electrical Engineer will lead process improvement initiatives aimed at optimizing equipment operation, increasing product recovery, and supporting product development efforts. The role involves working closely with cross-functional teams to troubleshoot, analyze, and resolve technical issues, ensuring the seamless operation of electrical systems and automation processes. Additionally, the engineer will oversee the installation and commissioning of new vision and surface quality monitoring systems, providing technical guidance and leadership to ensure successful implementation. This position requires a proactive approach to problem-solving, a strong technical background, and the ability to collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders to meet operational goals.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution. A minimum of three to five years of engineering experience in a manufacturing environment is required, with demonstrated proficiency in industrial controls, programming languages such as PLCs, C++, Python, Java, and related automation technologies. A solid understanding of statistics, vision systems, and surface monitoring systems is essential to effectively support process improvements and troubleshoot issues. The candidate should demonstrate excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to provide innovative technical solutions to recurring design and process challenges. Responsibilities
- Support product development initiatives by investigating, determining, and modifying rolling models and processes required for new product introduction.
- Oversee the maintenance and operation of vision systems, measuring systems, and surface quality monitoring systems installed on rolling equipment.
- Lead the installation, commissioning, and troubleshooting of new electrical systems and automation equipment.
- Participate in failure analysis, lead problem-solving teams, and identify root causes of technical issues, organizing support from relevant resources.
- Provide advanced technical guidance, ensuring comprehensive understanding of equipment operation and its impact on utilization, process efficiency, and product quality.
- Develop and implement technical solutions to recurring design, process, and application problems, improving overall manufacturing performance.
- Maintain strong working relationships with internal stakeholders—including technical resources, leadership, production, quality, and maintenance teams—as well as external suppliers to ensure process improvement needs are met effectively.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives by analyzing data, optimizing processes, and implementing best practices.
- Assist in training and mentoring team members on electrical systems, automation, and process control technologies.
- Work in a flexible schedule, including off-shift hours or weekends, to support 24/7 manufacturing operations when necessary.
