Role summary

Honeywell is seeking a Sr Advanced Test Engineer for its Aerospace Technologies division in Mississauga, ON. This on-site role involves designing, developing, and executing advanced test plans for aerospace products, collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure quality and reliability. Responsibilities include maintaining labs, creating test builds, providing test support, executing development and qualification tests, and analyzing issues. The role requires electrical and mechanical skills, including reading schematics, using test equipment, repairing circuit cards, modifying harnesses, and understanding mechanical drawings. A Bachelor's degree in engineering and minimum 6 years of test engineering experience, with 3 years in Power Electronics, are required. Experience with RF, EMI, Environmental, and Power Quality testing is preferred.

Job Description
As a Sr Advanced Test Engineer here at Honeywell, you will play a critical role in designing, developing, and executing advanced test plans and procedures to ensure the highest quality and reliability of aerospace products. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to define test requirements, analyze results, and drive continuous improvement in testing methodologies and product performance.
You will report directly to our Sr Engineering Manager and you’ll work out of our Mississauga, ON location on an on-site work schedule.
In this role, you will impact the success of Honeywell’s aerospace engineering projects by ensuring robust test processes that support product innovation and safety standards, contributing to the advancement of aerospace technologies.
Responsibilities
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Product Group Support

  • Maintain Development & Qualification Lab and equipment to support Product Groups
  • Create test builds and electrical harnesses
  • Provide test and troubleshooting support.
  • Execute development and qualification test, investigate, and analyze issues to root cause and propose fixes, implement change, and verify & validate the final solution.
  • As Point of Contact with the Product Group, you will provide Test/Builds Support essential for product development and participate in trouble shooting activities with the team.

Electrical Skills

  • Read and understand schematics and printed board assembly drawings
  • Use oscilloscope, multimeter and other general purpose test equipment to test and diagnose newly designed circuit cards and assemblies
  • Repair/modify printed circuit cards including surface mount components
  • Modify and create wire harnesses (crimping, soldering, heat shrink etc)
  • Experience with Power Electronics
  • Controllers
  • Inverters
  • Rectifiers/IGBT’s etc
  • Understanding of IPC standards for boards and harness builds
  • Create test setups in lab, document setup, and create sketches/diagrams for Engineering Drawing’s
  • Write test reports/document changes/modifications

Mechanical Skills

  • Read and understand mechanical part and assembly drawings ANSI 14.5
  • Modify parts (using drills, simple sheet metal bending, cutting of metal, pressing studs/nuts in PBAs, etc.)
  • Assemble electronics enclosures using appropriate tools such as torque wrenches, applying thermal paste, etc.
  • Order parts for prototyping

Qualifications
The Honeywell building is a controlled goods program environment. Candidates must be eligible for CGP clearance.
YOU MUST HAVE

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering
  • Minimum 6 years of work experience in test engineering
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in Power Electronics, generation and distribution

The annual base salary for this position starts at $100,000. Please note that this salary information serves as a general guideline.
