Role summary

SUMMARY
The Security Engineer will look to a Senior Security Engineer or the Security Team Lead for direction and mentoring. They will perform, as directed, all necessary functions required to support day-to-day information security operations within Huber & Associates Inc. and our clients' environments.
The Security Engineer is responsible for general administration, troubleshooting of information security related solutions and tools, and protecting information assets by applying security policies and standards. This position will require the Security Engineer to participate in training and continuing education to enhance their information security knowledge and skill set
They will work with a team and independently to support clients in the public and private sectors. The Engineer will perform all responsibilities in accordance with all company standards, policies and procedures.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following—other duties as assigned.
- Assist with development and maintenance of security policies, including documentation
- Assists incident, problem, and request handling for assigned information security focus areas
- Assists with security incident response measures to analyze, contain, eradicate, and recover from security events
- Demonstrate experience in computer security with risk analysis and compliance objectives
- Demonstrate experience with information security practices, networks, software & hardware
- Manage, as directed, systems including firewalls, proxy systems, logging and other devices
- Focus on continuous improvement of response capabilities through automation and critical thinking
- Assist with definition of security requirements and review systems to determine compliance with established security standards and help develop new standards as necessary
- Assist with on-call rotation needs for after-hours emergencies, as needed
PREFERED EXPERIENCE
- Associates degree in computer related field, business or risk management from an accredited college or university is recommended.
- Ability to obtain one information security certification such as Security+, Network+, CAPM, SSCP, FAIR or equivalent within 12 months of employment
