Job Summary
At Huhtamaki, the Senior Data Engineer plays a key role in driving innovation through data by designing, building, and maintaining scalable data and reporting solutions that align with our strategic roadmap. This position partners with business and technical teams to deliver end-to-end data engineering projects, leveraging Azure, Microsoft Fabric, and modern ETL/ELT processes to automate data integration from various sources. The role is responsible for optimizing data pipelines for performance and reliability, enforcing robust quality, security, and governance standards, and supporting analytics and reporting through effective data modeling and dashboard development in Power BI across multiple business domains.
Essential Functions
Data Engineering & Integration

  • Partner with business and external technical teams to translate requirements into scalable, high‑quality data solutions.
  • Manage the full end‑to‑end development lifecycle for data engineering projects, from design through deployment, both independently and in partnership with external technical teams.
  • Design, build, and maintain scalable data pipelines and integrations on Azure, leveraging Microsoft Fabric and modern ETL/ELT processes.
  • Automate ingestion, transformation, and processing of data from on‑premise, SaaS, cloud, and API‑based sources.
  • Optimize data workflows to maximize performance, reliability, scalability, and cost efficiency.
  • Provide ongoing support for data pipelines and integrations, diagnosing and resolving issues promptly.

Data Quality, Security & Governance

  • Implement and maintain robust data quality checks, validation rules, and automated error‑handling frameworks.
  • Ensure all data solutions adhere to security, privacy, and compliance standards across Azure and cloud environments.
  • Promote and uphold data governance best practices across models, pipelines, and reporting assets.

Data Modeling, Analytics & Reporting

  • Create and maintain efficient data models and schemas to support analytical and operational needs.
  • Develop and publish semantic models and dashboards using Power BI
  • Work with structured enterprise datasets across finance, manufacturing, procurement, sales, marketing, pricing, and other domains.

Required
Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • Minimum of 6 years of experience in Azure data engineering and data platform
  • Advanced programming skills in Python and SQL
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Power BI, Fabric, and Azure
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps.
  • Experience with networking, security, identity, management, and serverless computing in Azure.

Preferred

  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot complex issues.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Experience in extracting data from various ERP systems and API-related development.
  • Azure certifications (e.g. Fabric Data Engineer Associate, Azure Solutions Architect Expert, Azure Data Engineer Associate)

Environment

  • Hybrid work environment that mixes in-office and remote work to offer flexibility and support to employees. In-office hours are set by group Manager.
  • Work hours are usually 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. but could require after hours and weekend work to complete projects on time
  • Travel as needed; up to 10%
