About The Role
We are seeking a highly experienced PostgreSQL Infrastructure Database Administrator to join our remote team. In this role, you will be responsible for managing and optimizing large-scale PostgreSQL databases supporting our healthcare infrastructure. Your expertise will ensure the high availability, security, and performance of our database systems. You will create and maintain database objects, monitor performance metrics, and implement best practices to enhance database reliability. Additionally, you will lead disaster recovery efforts, manage user access, and develop automation tools to streamline data loading processes. This position requires a proactive approach to identifying potential issues, performing routine maintenance, and collaborating with development teams to provide guidance on database best practices. Your work will directly impact the efficiency of our healthcare data systems, ultimately contributing to better health outcomes for our members.
Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED (or higher)
  • 5+ years of experience as a PostgreSQL Infrastructure DBA supporting large-scale enterprise environments, including managing databases of 10+ TB
  • Hands-on expertise in PostgreSQL administration, including creating and managing database objects such as triggers, indexes, tablespaces, roles, and schemas
  • Experience with performance monitoring and tuning to ensure optimal database performance
  • Proficiency in managing database availability, reliability, and overall health
  • Healthcare industry experience
  • Knowledge of MSSQL and MySQL
  • Strong understanding of database security, backup, and disaster recovery procedures
  • Ability to develop automation technologies to enhance data loading processes
  • Experience in relational database development and ensuring data integrity
  • Familiarity with user access management and permission controls
  • Proficiency with utilities such as pg\_ctl and psql for database maintenance

Responsibilities

  • Monitor database performance and implement tuning strategies to optimize efficiency
  • Ensure high availability and reliability of database systems through proactive management
  • Maintain database backups and perform disaster recovery operations as needed
  • Implement and monitor database security measures to prevent unauthorized access
  • Schedule and perform routine maintenance tasks on database servers
  • Manage database schema changes and ensure data integrity across systems
  • Oversee database availability and manage user access permissions
  • Develop automation tools to streamline data loading and management processes
  • Identify and resolve production data issues promptly
  • Manage tablespace and role configurations to support scalability and security
  • Provide best practice guidance and support to development teams for database-related activities
  • Monitor and tune database performance regularly to meet operational requirements
