Role summary

IES is seeking a Construction Data Analyst to support financial performance, operational efficiency, and strategic planning for single-family and multi-family construction projects. The role involves analyzing cost structures, forecasting revenue and resources, and delivering actionable insights through detailed reporting. Key responsibilities include performing cost analysis, developing revenue forecasts, analyzing resource utilization, and creating reports and dashboards to aid decision-making. The analyst will monitor financial performance, track operational expenses, evaluate procurement activities, and ensure data integrity. Collaboration with cross-functional teams and identification of process improvements are also critical aspects of this role.

### Job Summary

We are seeking a data-driven Construction Data Analyst to support financial performance, operational efficiency, and strategic planning across single-family and multi-family construction projects. This role focuses on analyzing cost structures, forecasting revenue and resources, and delivering actionable insights through detailed reporting.

### Key Responsibilities

  • Perform cost analysis for single-family and multi-family construction projects, identifying trends, variances, and cost-saving opportunities.
  • Develop and maintain revenue forecasts based on project pipelines, timelines, and historical performance.
  • Analyze and forecast personnel and vehicle utilization, ensuring optimal allocation of resources across projects.
  • Collect, analyze, and interpret data related to construction project performance, costs, and operations.
  • Develop and maintain reports and dashboards to support business insights and decision-making.
  • Monitor financial performance, including budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.
  • Support resource planning and utilization analysis across personnel, equipment, and materials.
  • Track operational expenses and identify trends, risks, and opportunities for cost optimization.
  • Evaluate purchasing and procurement activities to improve efficiency and cost control.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to provide data-driven recommendations.
  • Ensure data accuracy, consistency, and integrity across systems and reporting processes.
  • Identify process improvement opportunities and support implementation of data-driven solutions.

### Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Construction Management, Data Analytics, or related field.
  • 2+ years of experience in data analysis, financial analysis, or construction analytics.
  • Strong proficiency in Excel (pivot tables, lookups, financial modeling).
  • Experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Power BI).
  • Ability to analyze large datasets and translate findings into actionable insights.
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.

### Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in residential construction (single-family and multi-family).
  • Working knowledge of SQL or Python for data analysis.
  • Understanding of budgeting, forecasting, and cost control in construction environments.

### Work Environment

  • This is an in-office position.
  • Regular collaboration with cross-functional teams including finance, operations, project management, and field personnel.

  • Fast-paced environment with multiple projects and deadlines requiring strong prioritization and time management.

### Physical Requirements

  • Prolonged periods of sitting and working at a computer, including extensive use of spreadsheets and data visualization tools.
  • Ability to occasionally stand, walk, and navigate active construction sites when required.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively in both office and field environments.
  • Ability to lift up to 15 pounds (e.g., laptop, documents, or light equipment) if needed.
  • Visual acuity to analyze detailed data on screens and reports.
