Role summary

Beltways is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to develop Beltways OS, a real-time control and monitoring platform for their innovative transportation system. This role involves building web applications with React and Node.js, creating industrial system dashboards, developing APIs, and applying cybersecurity best practices. The engineer will work with industrial automation systems, PLCs, and various databases like InfluxDB and MongoDB. The position requires full-stack development skills, including experience with Docker, Linux, Cloud, DevOps, and CI/CD pipelines. The role is based in Hebron, KY, and requires the ability to commute to the facility.

Role Responsibilities

As a Senior Software Engineer, you’ll help develop Beltways OS—a real-time control and monitoring platform. Work includes:

  • Build web applications with React and Node.js
  • Create dashboards and interfaces for industrial systems
  • Develop APIs and real-time applications
  • Apply cybersecurity best practices
  • Work with industrial automation systems
  • Maintain code quality

Required skills

  • Full stack software development: PLC systems, HMIs, mechatronics, SCADA systems, Computer Vision, Docker, Linux, Cloud, DevOps, Computer Vision, Machine Learning, SQL, Next.JS, MQTT
  • Bonus: Python, C++, Javascript & Typescript, Node.js, React
  • Understanding of Industrial Cybersecurity, Git, Development tools such as CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, code listing, and build tools (Webpack, Vite or similar)
  • Excellent communication
  • Genuine curiosity and passion for problem-solving
  • Desire to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to commute to the facility in Hebron, KY

Outcomes

  • Collaborate in a cross-functional team at a fast-paced growing startup
  • Build production UI dashboards and control panels using Next.js and React
  • Work with time-series and document databases, including InfluxDB and MongoDB, for storage and analytics
  • Interface with industrial PLCs to acquire motion and telemetry data
  • Document technical work clearly for handoffs and team knowledge sharing
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with founding and engineering teams in a fast-moving hardware-software context
