About the job

Are you a self-motivated Web Developer who thrives on maintaining and developing websites and digital platforms? The Infectious Disease Alliance (IDA) is seeking a technically skilled Lead Web Developer & Web Services Administrator to manage and maintain our Wix-based main website, while also supporting other digital platforms, including our journal site, newsletter system, and upcoming web-based services.

This role requires someone who can take initiative, work independently, and collaborate effectively as part of a team, ensuring that website functionality, updates, and development projects progress without constant supervision. The ideal candidate will also provide technical support to colleagues for web-related issues, helping the team operate efficiently. Responsibilities

  • Lead, maintain, and troubleshoot the main Wix website, including regular content updates, structural changes, and resolving technical issues.
  • Administer and troubleshoot the journal website built on Open Journal Systems (OJS), including PHP-based customizations.
  • Operate and troubleshoot the current newsletter platform (not Wix-based) and lead the evaluation and implementation of a new newsletter system.
  • Support the development of upcoming web-based platforms and applications using HTML, CSS, and optionally JavaScript/Java.
  • Provide technical guidance and assistance to colleagues for any web-related issues, ensuring smooth operation and problem resolution.
  • Take initiative to identify and resolve website and platform issues proactively, with minimal supervision.
  • Coordinate day-to-day activities with the Web-Developer Team

Requirements
Essential :

  • Strong experience administering websites, with emphasis on Wix.
  • Proficiency in HTML & CSS.
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently while collaborating effectively with a team.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot website issues proactively.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills in a cross-functional team environment.
  • Have 2-3 years of experience as full stake Web-Developer

Desirable :

  • Experience with PHP and Open Journal Systems (OJS).
  • JavaScript and/or Java experience for developing web-based services.
  • Previous experience implementing or migrating newsletter systems.
  • Comfortable managing multiple evolving web platforms.
  • Knowing UX/UI knowledge is a plus.
