Role summary

Infinitum is seeking a Junior Power Electronics Test Engineer to join their Electronics Team. This role serves as a key link between the Electronics, Test & Integration, and Manufacturing departments. Responsibilities include building and operating test benches, executing various tests on power conversion systems, performing lab measurements, troubleshooting hardware, diagnosing field failures, and documenting findings. The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, coursework or experience in power electronics, understanding of basic converters, ability to read schematics, experience with lab equipment, knowledge of electrical safety, troubleshooting skills, and basic PCB design knowledge. Authorization to work in the US without sponsorship is required.

About the Role

We are looking for a Junior Power Electronics Test Engineer to join our Electronics Team. This role is the critical bridge between our Electronics, Test & Integration, and Manufacturing teams. You will own the testing, debugging, and validation of power conversion systems—from building test benches to diagnosing field failures.

Responsibilities

  • Build and operate power electronics test benches
  • Execute functional, performance, and stress testing on motor drives and power products (AC/DC, DC/AC, DC/DC)
  • Perform lab measurements to validate design performance—voltage, current, power, efficiency, switching waveforms, thermal, and EMI
  • Support Manufacturing and Test & Integration teams with hardware troubleshooting
  • Diagnose failed field equipment and conduct root cause analysis
  • Create and execute test plans and procedures
  • Document results, failures, and corrective actions
  • Maintain lab equipment and ensure safe testing practices

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field
  • Coursework or hands-on experience in power electronics
  • Understanding of basic power electronic converters
  • Ability to read and interpret schematics and datasheets
  • Experience with lab equipment: oscilloscopes, multimeters, power supplies, logic analyzers, electronic loads
  • Understanding of electrical safety for high-voltage systems
  • Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills
  • Basic knowledge of PCB design and layout
  • Candidates must be currently authorized to work full-time in the United States and able to continue working without employer sponsorship, visa transfer, visa extension, or future immigration support.
  • This role is not eligible for candidates who currently require, or may in the future require, sponsorship related to F-1 OPT, CPT, STEM OPT, H-1B, TN, E-3, O-1, or similar employment-based visa categories.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Hands-on experience with motor drives in a lab environment
  • Knowledge of motor drive control theory
  • Lab experience with low-voltage power systems (up to 1000V)
  • Internship/co-op experience in hardware testing
  • Soldering skills (passives, basic ICs)
  • Professional PCB design experience in Altium
  • NI LabVIEW experience
