Role summary
A 12-month contract Network Security Analyst position is available 100% onsite in Columbia, SC, supporting a State of South Carolina government agency. The role involves hands-on work investigating network security alerts, performing security assessments, managing firewall rules, analyzing traffic for threats, and ensuring compliance with regulations like HIPAA and NIST. The analyst will also support the SOC and senior analysts. Requires 5-7+ years of experience in network design, implementation, or support, a solid IT security or system administration background, and familiarity with secure network design, firewalls, IDS/IPS, SIEM, and logs. A network security certification (CCNA or PCNSE) is preferred, as is cloud network security experience (Azure or AWS) and Health IT or state/local government experience. Compliance with FISMA, NIST, CMS ARC-AMPE, and HIPAA is essential.

We're hiring a Network Security Analyst for a 12-month contract (extension likely) supporting a State of South Carolina government agency. It's a hands-on seat on the security operations team - real firewall, network, and alert work, not a meetings-all-day role.
Work authorization: US Citizens and Green Card holders only.
What you'll do:
- Investigating and responding to daily network security alerts
- Security assessments on firewall and infrastructure changes
- Firewall rule reviews, ruleset recertification, connectivity/block requests
- Analyzing on-prem and cloud traffic for threats and policy violations
- Compliance against HIPAA, NIST, CMS ARC-AMPE, SCDIS-200
- Supporting the SOC and senior analysts on daily cyber ops
What you
