Sr. DevOps Engineer (GCP)
Role summary
We are seeking a Senior DevOps Engineer to design, build, and operate scalable CI/CD platforms and cloud-native infrastructure on GCP. This role requires strong hands-on experience with Kubernetes, GCP, CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure as code (Terraform), and production-grade troubleshooting. The engineer will focus on improving reliability, security, and developer productivity by implementing and managing CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, Helm), cloud infrastructure, Kubernetes clusters, and observability solutions (Prometheus, Grafana). Experience with Akamai security and CDN solutions is preferred. This is a hybrid role based in Toronto.

Position Responsibilities:
CI/CD & Automation
- Design, implement, and maintain
CI/CD pipelines
using
Jenkins
- Optimize build and release workflows across the
software development lifecycle
- Integrate
Akamai CDN cache purge and configuration updates
into CI/CD pipelines to ensure zero-stale deployments
- Standardize application deployments using
Helm charts
- Enable automated testing, security scanning, and deployment strategies (blue/green, canary)
Cloud & Infrastructure
- Build and manage infrastructure on
Google Cloud Platform (GCP)
- Use
Terraform
to provision and manage cloud and Kubernetes resources
- Implement and manage
IAM policies
following least-privilege principles
- Manage DNS, networking, and ingress configurations
Security & Reliability
- Implement and operate
Akamai security solutions
including WAF, DDoS protection, and bot mitigation
- Improve platform resilience by leveraging
Akamai edge failover and traffic management
during incidents and peak traffic
Kubernetes & Platform Engineering
- Deploy, manage, and scale applications on
Kubernetes
- Configure and operate
Ingress controllers
and
API gateways (Kong)
- Support microservices architectures and service-to-service communication
- Ensure platform reliability, scalability, and security
Observability & Reliability
- Implement and maintain
monitoring and observability
solutions using:
- Prometheus
- Grafana
- Troubleshoot complex
production issues
across infrastructure, networking, and application layers
APIs & Integration
- Support API lifecycle management and integrations
- Work closely with application teams to onboard services to the platform
- Assist teams in production readiness, deployment best practices, and troubleshooting
Required Qualifications:
7+ years of experience in DevOps / SRE / Platform Engineering
Strong hands-on experience with:
- CI/CD tools (Jenkins)
- Kubernetes (K8s)
- Helm charts
- GCP
- Terraform
Solid understanding of:
- IAM and security best practices
- DNS, networking, and ingress
- API gateways (Kong preferred)
Proven experience supporting production systems and handling incidents
Strong Experience with observability tools (Grafana, Prometheus)
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with
canary deployments and traffic routing
- Experience with
Akamai CDN, EdgeWorkers, Property Manager, or Traffic Management
- Familiarity with
service mesh
concepts (Istio/Envoy)
- Knowledge of
logging systems
(Loki, ELK, or similar)
- Experience with
security scanning and compliance
- Exposure to
GCP networking and load balancing
Benefits
Salary Range:
$85,000 to $90,000 CAD/ year
The final compensation offered will depend on local market conditions and geographic location, as well as job-related factors such as the candidate’s knowledge, skills, qualifications, relevant experience, and education/training. Compensation may also include additional components such as benefits, and/or other incentives, where applicable.
