Lead QA Engineer

We are seeking a Lead QA Engineer with strong experience in both manual testing and test automation to help ensure the quality, stability, and performance of our applications. This role will work closely with engineering, product, and external QA resources to design test strategies, build automation, and maintain high standards across the development lifecycle. The ideal candidate brings a thoughtful, detail-oriented approach and a solid technical foundation, with the ability to contribute both independently and as part of a collaborative team.

Key Responsibilities:

Test Strategy & Automation

• Contribute to overall test strategy and planning alongside engineering and product teams
• Design and execute manual test cases across new and existing functionality
• Build, maintain, and expand automated test coverage
• Integrate automated testing into CI/CD pipelines to support reliable and repeatable deployments
• Participate in pull-request reviews and help maintain quality standards through defined quality gates

Collaboration & Release Quality

• Assist with requirements gathering and development of acceptance criteria to ensure testability
• Create and maintain clear test case documentation and defect tracking
• Support release readiness through validation, coordination, and release sign-off activities
• Engage in team and pair testing sessions to improve coverage and knowledge sharing
• Mentor others and continue developing your own skills through collaboration and feedback

Quality Execution & External Resource Oversight

• Define and delegate testing assignments to contracted or augmented QA resources
• Review and validate test cases and results from external testers to ensure consistency and quality
• Help onboard external resources to internal systems, processes, and tooling

Required Experience:

• High level of skill in both QA automation and manual testing
• 5+ years of experience building automated tests, including unit tests and front-end automation using tools such as Selenium or Playwright
• Solid understanding of modern development practices and the Software Development Life Cycle
• Experience building out QA process from scratch
• Experience communicating with business leaders, SMEs that are using the software
• QA team management, preferably managing near-shore teams
• Working knowledge of modern programming languages, frameworks, databases, and query languages
• Experience with Laravel, Vue, Docker, AWS, or other cloud technologies is helpful
• Experience with eLearning or related technology products is a plus

Technical Environment

• GitHub for source control and CI pipelines
• Applications built in PHP Laravel and Javascript (Vue) with MySQL
• Asana for project tracking using Kanban Agile methodology
• AWS for hosting and deployment

Pay: $120,000.00 - $140,000.00 per year
